There IS something to post counts... but it certainly isn't the be-all end -all. Winston and I often disagree.... but it's always a civil discussion, and that does garner respect for a long time poster. You won't see Winston start off by making insults, vieled or obvious. I admit that I roll in the dirt at times, but always after the first volley has been launched, and not by me. The classic "give me a break" or "are you serious" type of posts don't generate good discussion, unless someone is more patient than I... and Winston is more patient than I. It's a fact.... when one is new, on a messgae board or elsewhere, it's usually wise to get the lay of the land before throwing one's wieght around. given your tenure here, I would think you would have a better lay of the land than you do now. Winston is a pretty cool guy.... and yes, mods will tend to lean in a guy like Winston's direction. The mods here are MUCH better than any other Jets forum, hands down. One site enforces a strict hands off policy, resulting in excessive trolling, the other has a complete a hole running it.
It was being respectful to 2 posters here. But, like I said you took it as an attack...don't know why..but you did. The true problem is this. If you are a Darksider, you look for the worst possible thing. If you are a Sunshiner, you make everything out to be all roses. If you are a realist, you see the what is before you and know that certain things need to happen to make things better and there is no pixie dust to swerve things good or bad. This, like many other FB MBs, is full of both. Goto any board, and you will see people who think their team is going to the SB. Conversely, you will see those who believe their team is picking #1 in 07. It is alot like todays politics. You have Democrats accusing Republicans of being too conservitive...And Republicans accusing Democrats of being too liberal. But the majority of the country is in between. So, to sum it up....RELAX TGG..IT IS ONLY A GAME!!!!!

I'm in to the Jets and Pro football in general. I come here to discuss, engage, learn, impart knowledge and be entertained. Over time I have gotten into ongoing discussions with several posters on a variety of topics Jets and otherwise. I love when a new poster comes in here and adds to the debate. Like most of the regulars I welcome some new ideas and energy. The whole premise of your post and your continuing argument is about stifling engagement, debate and discussion. You than attacked me and laughed about it and I pointed out how stupid your attack was. You than tried to turn it into a grammar issue which missed the point entirely and than tried to attack me and undermine my voice through some kind of off the wall post count issue? What it really comes down to for me is you going to contribute, engage and challenge in an intelligent manner? If you are I welcome you to the battle if you aren't than STFU.
It hasn't change in the 5 years I have been here. And it is no different then any other NFL team board. Fans are the same everywhere. Winning cures all ills.
You're talking sense and alot of people aren't interested in sense. Alot of that comes from being so passionate about FB and the Jets. A little more detatchment would help.
Having darksiders, sunshiners and realists keep this board moving everyday. If you had only one of those groups, it'd be the same discussion everytime and no contreversy. I am not a fan of these darksiders either, but when I think about it, this board would not be as popular as it is without the back and forth debating between each other.
There are plenty of people who still post here. It is still one of my favorite sites on the web. Just with changing lifestyles (aka working full time, getting married, and graduating college) a lot of old-school posters don't have as much time anymore. I still think there are a lot of high quality posters, and the negativity is ingrained into Jets fans psyche... at least those it is in those of us who have been Jets fans before 1997.
my question is this....Theres a lot of people on this board who are complaining that there is too much negativity in the posts. Dajets408 even wants negative posters banned(which of course is retarded).....The team hasnt won a superbowl as champ will tell you all day long since 1969, weve won llike what 5 playoff games in 25 years,weve had 1-15 seasons, heartbreaking loss after heart breakin gloss and of course that lovely season last year. Do you think that maybe the negativity is a natural result of all that? I agree that the darksiders are too extreme at times(myself to a point as well) but in my opinion to be a sunshiner at this point just seems absolutely ridiculous, naive and borderline insane
I would say that the main reason that 85% of the post have been negative (seems high but lets just go with that number) is that the Jets lost 75% of their games last year. Many posters on this board would probably call me a darksider (and know how I feel about Herm and Bradway) but when the Jets blew out the Packers and the Colts in 2002, even I drank the Herm Edwards kool aid. While we could catch a lot of breaks and have a good year, we are rebuilding and many of our starters now won't be starting in a couple years when (knock on wood) we are much more serious contenders. Many loyal Jets fans believe that we are in for a tough year and as such, our players and coaches will get a lot less slack on the boards this year than they received in the recent past. If negative posts really bother you that much you would probably like it here (or any other Jets board) a lot more when the Jets are over .500.
None of you are "long time posters" as you say. Especially winston. He is the type of poster who only types with "wit" and doesn't really add anything to any convorsation. Yes he has alot of posts, but that means nothing. Read my join date. Now bring it all the way back to the 2000 pre-season (Petrozza reset the user list in aug 2002). I was one of the originals from JetsConfidential (Green Guy, CMAN?, etc...) who originally heard of this site through that one. Anyyyyyway; this site has always been a brew of negativity. The mods should honestly just crack down on it and provide that as cognitive reinforcement for posting negativity.
exactly my point...post count means absolutely zero...and some people treat it as a basis for knowledge... as for the negativity..i was quite perturbed yesterday at the amount of people on here that whine incessantly...im over it now but i dont like people that constantly diss their own team...me and my whole family are almost ashamed of being jet fans after reading some of the posts on here...its very disturbing to be including in such a "family" or "group"...who wants to be associated with the world worst fans? not me...so why dont we be a little more supportive around here huh?
The mods shouldn't sensor anybody who has an opinion. One of the best things about this site is the lack of sensorship. If you want to be a part of a board where the staff run the site like a Nazi death camp, there are plenty of other boards out there. The great thing about this one is that Petro lets people say what they want without too many rules. It is great that we have a site like this so that we the fans can vent about the team.
I would rather discuss the team's problems and get a better understanding of how they can improve than stick my head in the sand. To each his own.
