A little more closely? All I'm saying is that this is not last year's offense. Don't expect to see them pounding the ball on every down line they did then and don't expect much of anything without the best center in the game sitting on the bench. The better barometer is how well Sanchez passed. That too requires effort by the line. One other thing. If no running play gained over 8 yards then that is even a better reason for Greene's 5+ypc. Usually RB stats are always skewed by one long run.
Sure, I thought they did really well in pass protection. I was just concerned at the high percentage of stuffed runs.
I thought the OL's performance was mixed. Pass protection was above average, running game mixed, too many holding calls. One against Slauson. Mangold being out obviously was a downgrade, but it is too early to tell how well the line makes up for Faneca's departure. Woody's holding call was a little depressing. Despite Gruden hyping the Giant rookie, Woody just looked slow footed and using poor technique. I think the OL was average over all. Which is not good, since it should be above average, but Mangold being out... A work in progress.
Turner had a holding penalty and so did Slauson. Then Woody got blown by. Mangold or not, the OLine was average. I would like to assume they will get better since they had 2 new pieces last night, not just 1. Ducasse is a mauler but is definitely raw and needs to better his technique. He is also one ugly MF (no homo).
I thought LT looked good, hopefully we don't need to depend on his for any extended period of time to start, though. McKnight was very unimpressive, he didn't display much quickness in his feet. Greene is an animal, but we already knew that. We just need him to stay healthy.
