I think that he tries too hard sometimes, compounding his mistakes by trying to do too much.

Today was just a complete meltdown from #6. It's true that he doesn't have a great supporting cast, but that doesn't excuse shitty play. The fumble, the near pick thrown into Navarro Bowman's chest, all of the rushed overthrows...these are rookie mistakes from a 4th year pro.

I strongly believe that Sanchez is a better QB than Tebow, but at this point I couldn't fault Rex for making the change. At some point there have to be consequences for Sanchez's bad play.

True enough, but he dumped Tebow for a QB coming off a neck surgery that hasn't played. Elway had to figure he could get more out of a recovering Manning with a lot of miles on him than a 8-5 Tebow and that's why he made the move. If Tebow had shown any spark of being the type of Qb to build a franchise around, there would have been no reason to go after Manning in the first place.

That was two years ago. He took us to the playoffs two years ago so he just gets a free pass?

Cman, your logic is so full of fail. Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest Bball player ever, but as a front office man and a judge of talent, he absolutely sucked.

So no, just because John Elway apparently didn't think Tebow had a good future as a QB doesn't make it so. Hell, Steve Young is a HoF QB as well and he says that Tebow's issues can definitely be fixed (from what he saw this past offseason) and that Tebow could be a truly great QB.

Additionally, look at what many were saying about Sanchez after last year. That he was still young and developing, that he's going into his 4th season. They then compared him with Eli, a QB who also struggled through his first 3 years of starts and then things started clicking for him.

Tebow has a grand total of 16 NFL starts under his belt, why wouldn't the same logic apply ?

BTW, I hope other people don't confuse things. I'm not calling for Sanchez to be benched and for Tebow to start. I think it's too early to make that call. What I am saying is that IF the Jets decide to look elsewhere at QB, then they should give Tebow a shot, contrary to your (and other's) opinion.

Yeah,as much success as he had last year, tebow was bound to be figured out and easily stopped. In any case though,we cant get an accurate view of what he could do for us with only 1 of the same play once a quarter. I would have liked to have seen him play the 4th today. At least give the Texans that much more to have to plan for

I think the "figured out and easily stopped" thing is severely overplayed. I mean, NFL teams have been running from the I formation for 40 years and teams haven't "figured it out and easily stopped" it when opposing teams execute.

As for Tebow playing in the 4th Quarter, I'm of mixed minds about it. If he would have been running the same plays that were being called for Mark, fine, throw him in and see how he does. If they would have been calling WC plays, then it's better that they didn't. Game was out of hand, no reason to give teams tape to look at. The one throw he made should keep them guessing enough as it is.

I agree, but its more convenient to blame one player. In truth the whole franchise is messed up. Sanchez timing with his WR is always off and his accuracy isn't great either. This seems partly the blame of coaching staff and part of Mark's limitations. Being a good coach is knowing your players strengths and weaknesses and putting them situations that they can succeed in. As an outsider its hard to untangle the mess and figure out who is to blame and how to fix it. One thing I do know, it doesn't look good and it doesn't look like it's going to get better.

Just because one great player sucked at management doesn't mean they all will. Michael Jordan and John Elway are two different people in two different games.

John Elway knows Qb's and didn't think enough of Tebow to build around him. Didn't even think enough of Tebow to keep him on the bench to learn behind Manning. If Tebow's upside was that apparent, why didn't that happen? Did Tebow think he was better than Manning or had nothing to learn from one of the greatest Qb of his generation or was there no point to keeping Tebow on the roster?

Riddle me this: Why did Elway dump Tebow at the first opportunity?

Steve Young had to wait on Joe Montana to leave. Why couldn't Tebow wait on Manning?

A lot of us thought Sanchez came out too early and needed seasoning. His play in this 4th year is pretty much a testament to that. His GM did him no favors in the offseason. Neither did his old OC and QBC as for every step forward, Sanchez seems to take two steps backwards.

Its time to get out of the lab and into the real world. No more years long experiments waiting for potential to become reality. This franchise needs to re-establish credibility within itself and with its fanbase. The only way to do this is to FINALLY draft a bonifide blue chip/can't miss prospect at the QB position.

The real question here is will Woody have the courage to suffer the negative publicity while the team retools from Upper Management on down to the sidelines. I think this season will force his hand to make a move.

It is a hard mess to untangle. Take your statement about Mark's timing and accuracy. Is it that he's not putting the ball where and when he should ? Or is it that the receivers aren't where they should be at the right time ? Are they running routes too deep or too short ? Are they slow coming out of their breaks ? Are they having trouble getting off of jambs at the line ?

I'm not making excuses for Sanchez, just pointing out that it takes proper execution by both QBs and receivers in the passing game and that all misses aren't necessarily the fault of the QB.

Fourth season and still sucking this bad? Yeah it's time to cut our losses and see what we have in McElroy and gulp Tebow, and if that is a flop draft another QB. Sanchez is just bad, it's pretty damn obvious by this point. I can't believe people are still caling for him behind center, he's quit on this team twice already this year.

Your statement was the Tebow must be a terrible QB because John Elway traded him, and John Elway is a HoF QB, so he must know what he is talking about.

Now, if John Elway had a track record of choosing good QBs or developing them, then perhaps you would have a point. BUT, John Elway doesn't have that track record. Matter of factly, he really doesn't have any kind of record as a Front Office person as of yet. So, we are left with you basing his abilities off the fact that he was a HoF player.

As I said, Jordan was a HoF player as well, but he was terrible at judging the talent of others. In other words, JUST because someone was a HoF player, it doesn't mean that they are good at judging others.

It doesn't matter why Elway dumped Tebow, because you haven't established that Elway is good at talent evaluation. That's my point. Elway might think that Tebow can't be a "franchise" QB. So what ? Where is it written in stone that Elway is right ?

Again, the decision was up to Elway, and all you can point to is the assumption that he's right, because he was a HoF QB himself.

I actually agree with you about Sanchez. I don't think Shotty was a good fit for him. I don't think they did him any favors by having revolving doors at the WR position. I don't think they did him any favors by having Holmes as his #1 receiver.

Then again, I look at those arguments and ask why they aren't applicable to Tebow ? Go over to the Broncos forums right now and you'll see threads talking about how poor their receiver corps is. How Eric Decker is Mr. Butterfingers, and DT still can't run the right routes and keeps dropping catchable balls. You'll also see a thread or two talking about how terrible Mike McCoy is as the OC, and how he can't even be productive as a play caller when Peyton Freaking Manning is the QB. Lastly, many there are questioning the wisdom of playing Foxball and think that maybe that is
    McCoy's, and Denver's problem.

Funniest thing to me is that when I first came here after the trade, I saw many people moaning about how terrible Tebow is as a QB, but then they'd turn around and defend Sanchez saying many of the same things that I have said in defense of Tebow.

My point is that IF the team makes that decision wrt Sanchez, why wait and not give Tebow a shot to show something ? Again, look at your statement:

Why not see what he can do first ? Hell, if Sanchez is going to get the boot, throw Tebow in their for a couple of games and experiment with him, perhaps playing a different style of offense. If he sucks, fine, then throw McElroy in and see what he can do. Point is, find out what the guys you have can do instead of just saying "fark em all, let's draft another QB".

From what I've seen its a little of all of the above. Some times receivers, drop balls, bad route, etc and sometimes Mark over throws wide open WR (Miami game), forces a ball into double coverage, doesn't lead receiver, etc It all amounts to an inept offense. Without a running game, there is no where to hide. Mark is ok when asked to be game manager like an Alex Smith, run first, play action off of that to keep the other team honest. Today's game shows he's starting to press and that's when the turn overs start to happen. He just isn't the level of QB to put a team on his shoulders.

Dude, you're wasting your time posting here... I tried to explain things with logic and reason years ago, and all I got was a bunch of stupid responses always managed to that ignore nearly everything that was said.

You're right, but the "fans" here either aren't smart enough, or aren't interested in having any kind of actual football discussion.

TL:DR - You're right, no one will listen because you actually made sense. Stop wasting your time.

That's true, but i'm simply pointing out that the reasons for benching Mark in favor of Tebow makes no sense considering Mark won games and led his team to the playoffs.

I apologized for Sanchez for years, but coming into this year I said "fourth year, we need improvement", I've seen enough, this guy is just an embarrassment out there. I honestly believe he quit during the Pitt game and he quit again today. I just think it's time to see what we have in our other two QB's ( I would go with McElroy over Tebow). But I don't see Sanchez just morphing into a better QB in his fourth year. He does nothing better today than he did as a rookie.

Mark didn't LEAD this team anywhere, it was always the defense and the running game that led the way. Mark has hit his ceiling, he is not the answer, we aren't winning it all this year might as well pull the plug on Mark and see what Tim can do, it can't be much worse than what we saw today.

How long does he get a pass? Two more years? Five years? Until he retires? He's perennially been one of the worst QB's in the league, I mean I don't get it. It should be clear Mark rode the Jets defense and running game which were both top 5 in the league. Now that he doesn't have that he's impotent.

I think thats the point. he did,and is steadily regressing since then. You can't give us a high like that for 2 years in a row then give us this with the same qb and staff. We have already seen where the bar has been raised to. By having early success he eliminated his rookie pass

it could be worse. they can wait until sanchez loses more games, then it will take a tebow or mcelroy miracle just to finish at 8-8.

do they have the brass ones to move on now, or just delay until it's too late?

putting in tebow or mcelroy today after being behind 27-0 would be just as stupid a move.

Boomer said it on the pre-game show. Sanchez has sh!t WRs. The JETS organization, assuming this is Sanchez's last year, REALLY screwed this kid up.
