wow freakin rapage, nice job, I cant believe that second round I gotta wonder who else is a GM leaving that kind of talent till the second round
That's a great draft for the Giants - I love the Fletcher pick. I think the one thing you really missed the boat on was getting an OT. The Giants could really use an upgrade over Kareem McKenzie, whether it is getting a RT or a LT and then moving Diehl over to RT. The other thing you didn't get was a blocking TE. Kevin Boss is a receiving TE and you drafted another strictly receiving TE in Ingram. Of those two needs, the latter will be easier and more feasible to fill in the 7th. A guy like Brandon Myers from Iowa who is actually a dual threat TE could be a nice addition. If Bear Pascoe is still available he could be one too. If Anthony Hill from NC State is available that would be a steal. As for the OT spot, if a guy like Sebastian Vollmer fell (which isn't that unlikely seeing the rest of your draft) then he is a must draft.
I understand the need for an OT. There were a few times I could have went OT, but a player that was too good of a value was still available. Louis Vasquez can play RT in a pinch, but isn't the long term solution. Anthony Hill was drafted too high and would have been a reach. Honestly, there are very few good blocking TE's in this draft. I truly believe most GMs get into trouble reaching for positions. That is why I'm not an advocate for the Players drafted by positon thread. That thread takes the GM's focus off the entire picture. IMO, the best way to approach these drafts is set-up a board with your 250 ranked players and draft BPA, within reason. As long as I'm commish, I will never set up a player by position thread, if someone else wants to, no problem. I have drafted 3 Giant players that were at least a Round lower than projected. Mo Mass was just about 2 Rounds lower. Shady was a steal in late Rd 2.....again...not using BPA available and panic drafting since CBs and S were going off the board fast. GMs reached for some DB's in a panic shopping spree. Also, IMO, too many GMs "get cute" too early in the draft wanting to get that sleeper pick. I like to go for a sleeper, but not to the point to pass up an established player that played against better competition. Drafting BPA, with a realm of positional need as a secondary concern is the only way to go.

Seeing as how I am the Giant GM on here I might as well comment on your draft WW85 and what I liked/didnt Liked - McCoy to end of round 2 is just robbery. - McKenzie I had in round 3 to NYG too and I like this kid. Seems like what Coughlin and Co. look for, a smart kid who will bring pressure from anywhere and really take grasp on a position that can use an honest upgrade - I too have Vasquez in the 5th round except BUF took him before NYG and I honestly can see him at LG/RG day 1 for a team. I think he has the tools to be an adequate starter at the position. - Holtzclaw is a nice project who will be of a big help in ST from day 1 and maybe be of something in the future. Typical Coughlin type of guy, a hard working LB who will wrap their tackles and then some. Got mine in Scott McKillop in round 3. Did not - I dont know about Delmas at SS which is the spot he would have to play since Kenny Phillips has the FA spot all but locked. Big reason as to why I went with William Moore in round 2, safety need is big with Butler gone to STL(He wasnt even that good....). I havent seen alot of Louis Delmas to comment but can he really be capable of holding down the SS spot down since I know he is more used to FS? - Not big on TWO WR's since there is Hixon, Moss, Manningham and Smith on the roster already. With Britt and Mohammed M on the roster would they honestly hold 6 guys? Even with Moss cut, Manningham gets delegated to 5th spot despite being a 3rd round pick just a year ago? I think one WR is enough but thats just me. Just seems like something Reece wouldent do. To answer some previous questioning above on WW85 - Eh Boss is more of a blocking TE than receiving or is at least used that way on the offense. I think you need to go possession TE as opposed to a blocking one especially with Burress gone. Need some fireworks. - Kareem McKenzie hasnt been THAT bad in all honesty its just he got caught in a stupid DUI and has some off the field troubles that could leave some worries. I think tackle is a need but it is something they can live with for 1 year until the 2010 draft.
I think Delmas would be fine in either Safety position. I know he supports the run very welll.....so I don't think it's an issue. Remember, the Giants lost 2 receivers.....one to retirement and cut an asshole. Moss could be the odd man out, he's nothing special... rd 5 was too good to pass on Mo. Mass. Upgrading the position isn't a bad thing...when it comes to value. You need to do more research on the Giant's O-line.......it's one of the oldest in the league and the reserves are lousy. To pass on a Ramon Foster, in Rd 7, who can become a potential starting RT/OG in the future would be insane. I never critize good value picks in Rd 7. I'm not trying to hammer your Giant' draft, but clearly I believe mine is much better. Britt > DHB Delmas > Moore McCoy > Peerman Ingram > Drew Fulton = Foster Just IMO!!!
I actually thought you had a solid draft............. I dont hate the 2 WR I just dont think Reese will actually be doing it. Manningham, Hixon, Britt(for your draft), Smith are each pretty young respectively so thatd mean your tossing another young WR for your No.5 WR. Each of these WRs were brought in by Reese so I think Jerry will stick with the current core. WW85, I hope your not referring to me with the O-Line comment because that would make no sense since I took TWO O-lineman this draft for the Giants..........hmy: And DHB is better than Britt IMO. More humble, faster, better hands. Only thing Kenny has on DHB is route running and maybe physical play(But Moss and Plax play similar to Bey except both have much more polished route running). Besides Britt wasnt even around for me to even pick...... DHB>Britt(Its close as I like both but give me DHB) Moore=Delmas(Both are really similar, tough to really pick) McCoy>Peerman McKillop>Holtzclaw Harris>Fletcher McKenzie..............=McKenzie Ingram>Drew Fulton>Foster(Fulton is a round 4 OT with loads of potential, he could possibly be the successor in one year if NYG grabs him for RT. Vasquez>Isander(Isander isnt too bad though)
