The front 7 is very overrated right now. We get no pressure on the QB. None. Also, starting with the Eagles game, the run D has not been as good as advertised. We are a D that can be had right now, that's what I do know.

    Over reaction.

As with Rex, Bowles doesn't commit to a specific scheme. I saw 4-3, 3-4, 5-2, pretty much everything from him. I don't know how much the switch from a two-gap tech to a one-gap tech has affected the run defense, but it seems like there were cut back lanes for day yesterday. We missed pryor badly because usually those stretch plays don't ever get more than 2 yards past the LOS. Bad tackling, and missed assignments doomed us yesterday. Also have to give credit for the raiders, they had a good game plan against us. Rub routes, bunch formations, and attacking our LB's in the pass game...all known issues of the jets that they exploited.

I would have liked bowles to switch up his 3rd down approach because it looks he is approaching rex ryan predictability level with his cover 1 or 0 blitzes. Also the blitz schemes weren't that great with all the pressure coming from the middle and it looked like everyone just ran into a wall.

Davis had a bad game, couldn't get off blocks. Harris had one good tackle, but was other wise invisible. OLB were invisible in the pass rush. Coples looked decent in keeping the edge, but it didn't matter when there was no LB or safety to scrape over the top.
Gilchrist & Cromartie...good lord never seen a worst tackling display in my life. Bad cro showed up today after one decent pass-break, marcus williams just looked bad.

We went in thinking like it was the Same ole raiders teams of the past and got beat. At no point did I think this game was a gimmie after watching the raiders play this season. Hopefully we don't underestimate the Jags next week or things could get ugly

I would say the Jets Linebacking corps are average.

Buffalo, Miami, and the Jets have allocated all their assets on Dline because the thought is that it's the only way to stop Brady.

Even 3-4 Edge Rushers these days are often mitigated by good Qbs who know how to step up in the pocket. Last night Denver won because their CBs simply beat the Packers WRs all night long.

Long story short the best defense in today's NFL is a good offense. The Giants are horrible everywhere outside of QB and WRs yet they are going to the playoffs. In today's NFL the most important thing is having a good passing game and defending the passing game. Pass rushers aren't nearly as effective as they used to be as offenses continue to evolve.
