Forget about Upshaw, Ingram, Jenkins.....they all look average compared to Mercilus.

After watching Mercilus in the Bowl game today, he needs to be at the top of our list for the Jet's #1 pick.

I was not too high on Merciless until I saw him today. Now he might be the number one pass rusher on my list.

I still think Upshaw should be that #1 pass rusher for us. I love what Whitney has done but Upshaw has been consistent his whole college career, this year is Mercilus' first big season. I wouldnt mind saying that he is the second best 3-4 OLB prospect though, that I would 99.99% agree with (Nick Perry has impressed me enough to hold back on 100%). If he has a big combine he is due for a huge boost in stock.

In otehr words, your looking for Woodley, Harrison, Ware, or Suggs. Not John Abraham, or Maybin type speed rushers. With this I agree completely. To be a 3 down player in Rex's scheme you need ot be able to both set the edge and create pressure outside. The ability to do one or the other just makes you a bit role player in our defense. This is why a guy like Upshaw looks so good for us.

If we draft a Bama player, I want it to be one of their safeties and in the 2nd round. Neither will be off the board in the 1st round and should be able to get one with our new improved draft posistion.

    Mark Barron, SS, Alabama
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 215.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
    Projected Round : 2.

    Robert Lester, S, Alabama
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 210.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
    Projected Round : 2.

If they draft Barron, the Jets better have a free agent FS already signed.

Lester is HEAVILY overrated, he'll be available much later than the 2nd if he declares(barring a big NC game). People saw his big sophomore year and thought he was this Troy Polamalu type player with great anticipation and timing. Now it looks like a fluke as I could count on a 3 fingered man's hand how many plays he's made this year. He's still the weak link in a strong secondary...
