Agreed completely. Our offensive line still sucks and they have yet to add anything to really help the offense. I like adding Bridgewater on a flyer as long as we drafted a quarterback, but there’s still a lack of weapons and the offensive line is as bad as I’ve ever seen it. That money for Trumaine Johnson would’ve been better spent on Norwell or Solder. How many near record setting corners does Bowles get to work with?!?
What was all the salary cap money for? McCown and a CB? The Jets semi tanked to be in this exact position. Had years to plan this offseason and McCown is their goal, Harrison, Freeny and Hall are all better than anyone we currently have on the roster right now. I think the half did their offseason. Expecting them to close that gap in the draft is comical. They haven't done it yet.
No I just think they could have done better. They had the money but their priorites were jacked up. Did we really need McCown back here? Yes we needed a corner but we have no pass rush. Our offensive line is still a wreck. Long helps but he's coming off an injury and they might play him at guard. So they will still need a center. We finally had a decent TE and they let him go. They still have plenty of money and a 2 year 10 million dollar contract would not have hurt the budget.
I've criticized Mac no end but in reality lots of Vets think like Cousins THEY DONT WANT to come here..so I say it's a 60/40 percent split either way on culpability..LMAO at the posters who kept telling me "don't put your thoughts or how I think into KCs head" Well guess what the Jets ARE NOT an EASY sell You can fill in the blanks why the Jets are an unpopular landing spot
Players know it's a score first league; even defensive players. The Jets don't have a single game changer on offense & haven't dating back many years. Yet every offseason the priority is defense. Now..even worse the one thing we used to be able to lean on offensively(OL) has also gone to shit. There's no direction, no identity & no conviction. All things absolutely mandatory to building a first rate high scoring offense. QB's don't wanna come here b.c the OL sucks, surrounding cast sucks & the HC doesn't care about offense. OL/Skill don't wanna come here cause there is no QB. It's a vicious cycle & the only way out is by drafting better more cohesive offensive talent. Until the jets go offense heavy on draft day & get it somewhat right...this isn't gonna change. Where I'm disappointed in FA thus far is that depth has not improved. If we can't get first rate offensive players to come here to actually build something...can't we at least flood the depth chart w. younger 2nd rate FA's who can provide stability/competition?? Who knows..maybe even the less desired guys won't come here.
If anyone read MMQB, the agent for Josh McCown says Buffalo was interested in him so sounds like he had more leverage than anyone originally thought.
