Upon further review, your right about winning the division. But they all did pick the Jets to make the playoffs, and 2 picked the Jets to win the SB and none picked the Pats to win the SB. And while the reporter types didn't necessarily pick the Jets to win the division, Deion, Irvin, Faulk, and Dukes were all high on the Jets going into the season.
As a Jets fan, you should know that the Jets do best when they fly under the radar and people write them off.
This is funny to me because on the Giants' forum I frequent there are plenty of people complaining that the NFL Network is spending too much time on the Jets and not talking about the Giants enough. Thank God real football news is right around the corner!
I'm considering going on "media black-out" there's just too reported much crap these days, everything over reported, too many media guys yapping, tweeting, blogging, trying to get attention, I just can't stand it anymore. (Except this site of course) I agree with you! I'm lovin' it this year because we've been so trashed by everyone. We're a better team this year! We'll be even better next year with more experienced Colpes, Hill, and Wilkerson.
Seeing as they just won the super bowl I see that as a legit argument... but be glad that you aren't getting the negative media attention that the Jets are.
Nothing better than being the team to hate. I love it, accept it, and embrace it. It only makes the victories that much more enjoyable.
The Jets were not as advertised last year. We were told that the team was great. The Coach said so repeatedly. They had been to 2 straight ACFCG and then took a step backwards which included an apparent implosion by "Tone". The OL failed, the ground and pound evaporated and Sanchez wasn't good. The D was abused at times. Basically the team sucked. So I have no problem w/the media dumping on the Jets. Don't tell me how great you are - go out and win.
I used to give a crap about what the media said about the Jets, but this recent incarnation of the NYJs made me realize what a failure of an exercise that is. FACT - Rex Ryan has made no secret about how he uses media blabber to pump up his team. FACT - Bart Scott used specific media 'heads' as targets during a postgame rant. FACT - The Jets are a buzz team, maybe the biggest one in the league, and these Heads try to make money off of them. And ever since Tebow showed up on the scene, I have had a good time watching these 'national football experts' scramble like hyenas trying to make extremist opinions about the Jets. It's pretty funny now. They're transparent, if you get it. Just stop ssweating this shit. These morons are trying to make a name for themselves by being critics, either good or bad, with the Jets. You'll never see a moderate opinion about them until Rex Ryan leaves the building.
The NFL Network lost me yesterday when on NFL Access Sapp said Tebow would eventually start because he has "magic" and repeated that statement 2-3 times. Analysis like that makes the show and the network worthless.
The Bills were 5-2 in Week 7, so they had an even better chance at the playoffs than either the Jets or the Giants. Unfortunately, the season isn't 7 or 13 games long, it's 16. The Bills crapped the bed in the 2nd half of the season, and the Jets crapped the bed at the tail end of the season. The Giants didn't. Deal with it. Houston finished 10-6 without its starting QB for 6 games. Tennessee and Cincinatti both finished 9-7. Cincinatti was a WC. Tennessee lost the WC on a tie-breaker. Kansas City finished turned around their season after Haley was sent packing in favor of Romeo Crennell.
Michael Lombardi is the biggest asshole ever. "All of their backups looked perfect, I don't even know why they're practicing." Always has a smart ass remarks when the network finishes showing a Rex Ryan press conference.
Lombardi was a Patriots company man, and also a Raiders company man. The Jets have to be perfect for him to portray them with any kind of positive slant. Just take comfort in the fact that he has gone through life looking like a baby Fred Flintsone.
It doesn't bother me it's just their opinions and to be honest based on how we played last year we deserve a majority of the shit we get in the media.
Fair point, but I think the buffalo love is getting out of hand. I think they are a better team, but I still don't think they match up that well against the Jets.
Only thing that bothers me is when they are obviously fishing for controversy. If there is some controversy and they blow it out of proportion that's one thing but trying to find it bothers me. For example yesterday they were talking to Sanchez and asked him about Tebow and he commented that he was really flying down the field while on special teams, probably because he had just watched him do that, and they turned it into Sanchez talking trash about Tebow because he was talking about him on special teams and not how good he had done at QB. I mean, shut up with that garbage. If that was any other team in the league they wouldn't even mention it but because it's the Jets suddenly it's proof of a QB controversy and that Sanchez and Tebow don't get along.
The only advantage the bills have is at DE with Mario and at runningback with Jackson and Spiller. We matchup well with them and I think the bills are being overrated.
