50+ years of being a Jets fan and the thought of going to another team never occurred to me.
Seeing the Jets win SBIII causes brain damage.

LOL! I’ve been a fan since the sack exchange! Over 40 years of having my hopes crushed, enduring embarrassing loses, always waiting for next year. I will be a Jets fan till the day I die.

I lived through all of those and none of those were epic collapses.
1981 Bruce Harper fumbles the opening Kickoff, we go down 17-0 and manage to fight back and make of a game of it. Heartbreaking and disappointing, yes. But a good season after a decade of mediocrity.

Edit: After rereading I think you may mean AJ Duhe game, that was a strike shortened season and maybe I am the only one but I never thought we were winning that game and I was at the Raiders playoff game. We had already lost to the fins for 2 of our 3 losses that year.

1986 - Team was 10-1, but injuries derailed the final stretch. Still managed to win a playoff game, and should have been 2 but MG makes the dumbest play in team history. Still not a season to feel terrible about.

1998 - best regular season in team history, Incredible home playoff game against Jags. We had a 10 point lead a5 half to go to a SB we probably would have won, again disappointing but nothing to fee shitty about for to long.

After each of those 3 instances, while the end result was not the final trophy, you still thought the team was on the path and optimistic. Those teams were actually pretty good.
There is nothing to hang on to after this collapse, for me this is worse.

The 86 season was killer for me, started off so promising, 98 I thought was our year, by far the most prominent Superbowl team we've had, coaching staff included
