Even with all that, the Jets rank in the bottom third of the NFL in total revenue. In comparison to other owners, Johnson is not making gobs of money.

    Challenge accepted! :)

    Taken from Forbes:

Now these are 2 year old numbers and I'm no accountant, but it would appear the Jets ranked 19th in overall value while raking in $179mil. I don't know what Woody's cut is but that ain't bad at all for a franchise that hasn't won sh!t in almost 40 years. Just wait until the new stadium is built as has been pointed out by others..

There is no pressure whatsoever for Woody to demand a winner as long as the bucks keep rolling in JWWS.

    Merry Christmas BTW!

You got to be kidding. Dolen is the biggest moron that ever lived, and the worst possible owner in sports history. He is a walking idiot that screw us out of the West Side Stadium and the primary reason why the Knicks suck.

    Try again

Are you serial now are you? He paid 600M or change & will have a franchise worth 1.2B or more once the stadium is finished. All that within 10/11 years. I'm sure you would have loved to make such a investment would you not?

Ok. You all convinced me. The Jets 3 win season is all Johnson's fault. It was Johnson that wanted to play the 3-4 with 4-3 personnel. Mangini pleaded with Johnson to make the switch, but Johnson has been a fan of 3-4 ever since he was a little boy. It was Johnson that couldn't stop the run this year (and last).

Tannenbaum wanted to sign a big body at NT, but Johnson said he didn't like the way the those kind of players looked in the uniform with the belly hanging over the pants. Mangini loved Kendall, but Johnson demanded that he not be given a contract when he saw that Kendall was using Curad instead of J&J band aids.

Tannenbaum wanted to draft more players last year and did not want to trade down for Revis and Harris, but Johnson demanded the trades so that there weren't as many rookies for him to keep track of.

Johnson also made the 4 play calls against Philly inside the ten yard line at the end of the game. Johnson also demanded that Brad Smith and Justin McCareins get more looks in the passing game. I also learned that Johnson told Mangini that he didn't want Mangini using Thomas Jones on 3rd and 1 plays because the other team would expect it after the offseason trade.

Johnson refused to upgrade the OL. Johnson thought that Ellis would have break out year this year. Johnson forced Tannenbaum to trade Abraham because he doesn't like people who drink, but Johnson supports the selling of $8 beers at the stadium without limit because, well, money is money.

And Johnson really didn't want the WSS or a new stadium in Queens or for the Jets to have their own stadium because Johsnon is from New Jersey and is really a closet Giants fan and bought the Jets and went in with the Giants on the stadium just so he could sit in the same room as the Maras and meet some of the Giants. Jerk. Sell the team, Woody!!!!

Damn, we need a better owner.

Do you honestly think Cowher is going to come here and start beating up on the Pats anytime soon if at all? His record against the Pats was not that great.

I don't think anybody is going to come in and have a prayer against the Pats, in terms of the division race, for several seasons to come.

I do think Cowher would come in and make sure the talent base was improving each season until we got to the point that we could potentially compete with the Patriots. That's his MO.

People forget that the Steelers were down and out, and had been for seven seasons when Cowher took them over in 1992. They had made the playoffs just once in the previous seven seasons under Noll and that was a 9-7 squeak-in. Cowher comes in and the Steelers make the playoffs for six seasons in a row, getting to the AFC Championship Game 3 times and the Super Bowl once in that span.

That's a guy with an understanding of what it takes to compete in the NFL.

The Steelers do not have a General Manager and never have. They have a Director of Football Operations who reports directly to Dan Rooney and who manages the pro personnel group. The Head Coach also reports directly to Dan Rooney and has full say in the active roster once it's assembled.

The three man committee of DFO, HC and Rooney are the people who make the final decisions on who the Steelers draft and sign in free agency. Rooney has said on more than one occasion that the coach gets final say on the players and the DFO gets final say on the football budget issues. Rooney has an executive staff on the financial side reporting to him and he is the final say on overall finances.

Another way to look at this is that the Rooneys are professional football owners and fully understand their business. They didn't buy the Steelers with a fortune built up somewhere else, they made their fortune with the Steelers. They far outclass 90% of the owners in the NFL in terms of knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of being successful in the NFL and this is why the Steelers are a great franchise.

Cowher got the kind of education from them that you can't buy anywhere else in the 15 years he head-coached them. He is by far the most qualified person not in the Steelers organization at the moment to take over an NFL franchise and run it.

Our talent base has improved quite a bit each year than Mike and Eric have been here.

    Not obviously.

The results on the field are not because the Jets talent got better.

Dolan? Trump? Two of the biggest scuzz bags in the world? Ya gotta be kidding. Woody has his faults, but compared to those two jokers he's a prince. (I don't say he is one, just that he is one compared to those two)

If I were Woody I would realize that keeping the current offensive line and not spending money in the off-season will result in increased Band-Aid and Tylenol sales next year.

"if i were woody", i might not be as rich, but my football team would not suck. i may end up broke in pursuit of championships, but that would be my desire as owner! how else do you put behinds in those seats? you win games and compete for the superbowl as often as you can. i sure wouldnt have hired a new england, ball boy/ position coach/ 1 bad year as d-coordinator/ stand in, to lead my team in a direction aimed at the future. mangini doesnt even seem to have a personality for a leadership position of any kind. as owner i would spend spend spend......and damn well expect results!!!!
