If you were the GM for a day for the Jets what would you do?

Exactly. Plus he was hurt. The CS loves him, and he backs up Leonhard calling signals. If Leohard is gone Smith is that much more important. And... he's above average as a tackler, something the Jets need more of.

With Johnson's blessing, I would bring in people specifically to work with Sanchez.

Pennington would be on my list.
Steve Young. Tom Moore, Parcells, the Mission Viejo HC, Gibbs, whomever I can get to either be a consultant or f/t coach. Fuck it - bring in Namath just to teach Mark how to take the ball form Mangold. I want the best of the best working with Mark, and I want one of those guys being a liaison with Sparano and Rex.

(I absolutely love that Rex called Steve Young and their conversation. I think that was great initiative on Rex's part.)

I want Manning as my B/U QB if he doesn't feel there's another team he wants to start for that could win an SB. We'll fake an injury to Mark when he gets sacked in the Pats game and have Peyton put them away. That gives Peyton some glory. Mark resumes starting following week. We'll do that again in the AFCCG.

    RT, Safety's, and Pass Rusher.

Edwards or other fast FA WR.

    Everything else.

I agree. He has flaws, but he is good as a 3rd safety. Can tackle, is smart, and isn't as bad as people think.

I really think the safeties are going to be Smith, Jimmy and Mark Barron. With Mauga being groomed to cover athletic TE's, that should be good enough.

David Harris was calling the signals when Leonhard went down.

Eric Smith sucks. You are like the patron saint of shitty players and coaches, BB.

Eric Smith jumped the shark about two seasons ago, with the helmet-to-helmet hit on Welker. He can take a hike.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

That said, there are three things I look at in any prospect:

    1. Size
    2. Speed (in case of linemen, general athleticism - like explosive first step, or nimble feet in case of OL - would suffice.)
    3. Brain (included attitude)

Regardless of draft order consideration, players should all come with the three aspects.

rent out the top floor of a fancy hotel----order about 1000 bottles of booze, bring in a string of hookers.......and charge it all to Woody. Hell, once I started trying to do the job, he would fire me in a minute anyway
