If you were the GM for a day for the Jets what would you do?

You'd have to be the owner to change the title I believe, not GM. But your point is made.

I would give myself an extention, then handle business as usual.

    This.

Replace him with a scoreboard animation that flashes the letters up. Done.

I love the funny posts above, but I will try and be serious.

First thing I would do is call in Holmes, tell him he's staying but that he should know I am bringing in real Qb competition for Mark, so it wil be all good - either Mark gets it done this coming season or we put in the other guy, in which case Mark is gone in 2013. Holmes is cheered up, we blaze a bowl in the room where Woody keeps all his awards from the Partnership for a Drug Free America, and then go have a snack with Ryan.

No, I would really do that.

Then, I cut VD and Pool. I tell Thomas he's had his moments but we need more speed at OLB, so he can come back at the vet minimum or he's gone.

    I sign Pouha.

I walk down the hall and tell former GM Tannenbaum, who is now a data entry clerk in the accounting department, that he's lucky I didn't fire him. He profusely agrees with me.

Then I call Edwards and we agree to a deal bringing him back.

Then I call Burress and tell him I hope he enjoys that comeback player award, but he will only be coming back if that at the vet minimum.

Then I plan for tomorrow and the moves I will make to bring in a new RT, sign Turner, tell Leonhard he will have to prove he still deserves to start, sign a fast OLB, a new safety, and bring in Kyle Orton. Tomorrow afternoon I will work on getting a change of pace RB and decide what to do about the TE's, with my thinking today is that if we can get anything for him, to trade Keller and try and bring Dressen back.

Huh have you researched our draft record thru the year?. If you want to see how many wow players we have drafted why not review ALL of our draft choice & use the day after the day we won the SB which is 01/13/69 as a starting point so at least in our case the draft is not a feasible option

Depends on the day, but if it was the day that Peyton Manning became a free agent, I would get on the first plane to wherever he was and would convince him to become a Jet.

If it was draft day, I would draft Mark Barron with the Jets first round pick.

If it was the day after Manning signed with someone else, I would bring in Mario Williams.

#1 - Gotta speak to Holmes, Sanchez, Rex & new OC and determine if Holmes can be productive or if he's just become too cancerous to keep on the roster.

#2 - Negotiate with Mario Williams and get a ballpark # of what he wants. If it's close to doable then I'd go back to Sanchez and ask him to restructure.

#3 - I'd speak to the Rams and see if there's any Jets on offense they're interested in. With Schotty going over there, it would be worth talking to them and see if Schotty can talk them into bringing in any Jets.

    # 4 - Put together a list of cheap, sure handed people to CATCH A DAMN PUNT!!! Forget about the speed to break long returns. Just get somebody sure-handed on the roster.

    # 5 - Check out scouting reports and see if it's worth trading down.

    ====
While implementing this list, Mulligan would be called into the stadium and my hired goons would beat the crap out of him. Then I'd cut him afterwards.

Give credit when it is due every ten or fifteen years. We did go a good job with Revis, Mangold and Debrick. Two and possibly three might end up in the Hall one day.

    1. Cut Holmes (take the cap hit)
    2. Search for a replacement for Holmes and Burress
    3. Sign a starting right tackle.
    4. Sign Brady Quinn to compete with Sanchez
    5. Cut Bart Scott
    6. Sign Derrick Mason out of retirement so I can cut him myself.
    7. Trade up to #4 overall and take Trent Richardson.
    8. Go completely offense in the draft.

    1 Cut Eric Smith
2 Sit down with the offense individually and then as a unit to find out
    exactlywhat's wrong.
    3 Get a safety
4 Get a quality backup QB
5 Sign some competent O linemen
6 Ban Mulligan, Smith, Hunter, Mauga, Conley, Folk from coming within 100 feet of the facilities.
7 Lowball Braylon and Plax with cheap, one year offers. If they don't take it, fuck em.
    8 Get a pass rusher
9 Ask Woody why the fuck we still play in Jersey
10 Ask Woody if we cn change our Jerseys, or at least the logo.
11 Tell Rex to stop acting like a coordinator and start acting like a head coach

Braylon would probably take the low-ball offer. Plax would go bye-bye(and good riddance)

Regarding a somewhat frequent suggestion here, I would be very surprised if Smith is not on the team this coming season.

From what I remember, he adjusts the blocking on punts and is on special teams. I think most people, like me, want him gone as a starter. I am fine with him as a STer and backup, not as a starter anymore.
