And he'd need them too, of course to house his tremendous, steel balls; which is exactly what he'd need to go D with all 3 picks.
That's only because too many fans and media guys either don't understand the super unit philosophy for team building, or understand it and don't like it Most folks prefer the simplest approach ... if you see a weakness, on either side of the ball, the first order of business is addressing said weaknesss ... but adding to ones strength in PHASE I, as a means towards building a super unit, is a little less conventional, often misunderstood, and not widely accepted This approach requires a PHASE I and a PHASE II ... in PHASE I you build a super unit on one side of the ball {the Bears would be one example}, and in PHASE II you compliment that super unit by loading up on the other side of the ball {I suspect the Bears are about to enter PHASE II}
I think either Andrew Whitworth or Ryan O'Callaghan will be available in the 3rd and they would more than suffice, coming in and starting from day 1
I don't see how you can disagree with Max Jean-Gilles. He's the best prospect to come out since Steve Hutchinson, and we have Brandon Moore who is proving to be average as well as Kendall on his last breath. Don't wait until next year to take a guard because this year we can get one of the best prospects in a long while.
Yeah I agree that MJG is an awesome prospect, but we can take a pretty damn good guard in the third or fourth who will be able to start and fill our more important OL needs early (OC and OT)
True, but as of now, the Jets need 2 starters on the O-Line. I really like the idea of O'Callaghan since he also has experience at guard. The best scenario would probably be signing Hopkins and hoping O'Callaghan is there in round 3 as the LG for the present and RT of the future.
There's an element of truth to that, DK We would basically be the Bears in PHASE I of their rebuilding process, having to win low scoring games until we can compliment the D with enough O to increase the likeyhood that we win way more than we lose I don't deny the element of truth in your statement, but I do believe a dominant defense gives you "a chance" to win most of the games you compete in, even with a poor offense ... though it takes at least a complimentary offense {complimenting a dominant defense} to be a bona fide SB contender
If we had been able to sign a free agent offensive lineman like Bentley or Runyan, then going Williams, Wimbley, and Cromartie would be great, and give us a loaded defense. But I don't think we can ignore all of the holes we have on offense. Sure, we could sort of be like a Bears-lite, but I don't even think our offensive line, right now, is something that will even allow us to be competitive. I wouldn't object to two of those, however. I just think we need to go OL with either 29 or 35, unless we trade down from #4.
