we're fans, let the players and coaches do their jobs if we want to talk about the future, so be it, if you don't, so be it but some people are bored or excited and want to talk about the future is that so bad? what we talk about has no impact on the outcome of the game.
I'm not saying they aren't any good, they are deservedly the number 2 seed, I am just saying the Chargers are better and more difficult to defend. if either of the two are due to be revealed as a fraud in the playoffs, it is more likely to be the Ravens, whose success can be attributed directly to one single player:McNair. In the playoffs they will face teams with the ability to negate that advantage. and I don't believe the fact that they have a better seed than their SB season has any significance on how they will play in this playoff. it is nothing more than a fun fact. and I don't think the offense/defense has evened out. the 2000 defense was far more superior than this years defense than this years offense is better than the 2000's. historically, the 2000 team has to be considered stronger, not even IMO.
we've played very well against the run lately and I think we have a better chance against the chargers O than the ravens D... but lets beat the patriots before we worry about the chargers.
Re: the seed reference. The 2006 team did a better job in the regular season than the 2000 team. Playoffs? We'll see what happens. It means, at most, they will play one road game. They traversed a difficult AFC to get the 2 seed. But obviously, what seed they are has no real bearing on whether or not they are going to win a game. They have to do that on the field. They did lead the league in total defense and scoring defense this year. I just would hate the matchup for the Jets. I could see the Chargers playing tight more so than I can see the Ravens playing tight. The Chargers coach is very conservative in playoff games and Rivers (who I like) would be making his first playoff start. The Chargers could have some trouble.
I don't mean to dismiss the Ravens at all. the Ravens are good and I understand why some would want to avoid them. I just personally feel that their offense can be contained and the Jets have a better chance at winning a low scoring game against the Ravens than a high-scoring game against the Colts, as it is far less likely the Jets are able to contain the Chargers O. I am as much an optimistic homer as they come, but even I know the Chargers would put up 3 touchdowns on us, and our team just isn't adept at winning those types of games.
I certainly understand what you are saying about the Chargers and can easily see them putting 24 or more points on the Jets asses. I wouldn't expect the Ravens to score quite as many points against the Jets as SD would, but I think the Jets offense would be stymied big time against the Ravens. Of course, SD's defense is good, too. I think the Chargers are better than the Ravens, but it is close. I wouldn't bet any money on Baltimore if they played SD in the title game. I would be shocked if Baltimore lost a game at home in these playoffs.
Yeah, some of those guys on defense are downright scary. Pryce was a major addition. Scott has stepped up big time this year. Thomas is going to get paid nicely in free agency after what how well he played this year.
NFL has announced that whoever plays San Diego next week (Jets or Pats) will be on Sunday at 4:30 Eastern time.
Divisional Round Game Time (if necessary) NFL just announced it, revealed on NBC. If we were to play next week against hte Chargers, it will be at 4:30 on Sunday
Got extra tix by any chance? I'm in San Diego too and I'd love to go. I'll start asking around tomorrow evening probably.
We should remember that when looking past NE, we should refer to the Bolts as "the other team", and never mention them, or their coach, by name. edit: spelled "their" correctly. And that's on NO fn sleep!!!!
What's even more classic is the fact that your Buffalo Bills haven't made the playoffs during this century. You guys are pathetic.
True that, but we always manage to win a game against the Jets on our road to being pathetic. This aint Dona-blows old Bills, dont worry that streak of not making the playoffs will come to an end next year!
Just like 04 and pretty much every year the Bills miss the playoffs. The Bills and Dolphins are always that dangerous team to look out for next year.
