Only thing I've heard so far is that 3 teams are VERY interested. One team is offering a Starter, high draft pick and the other offer is a player and an high draft pick. Not sure what the other offer is but it seems those are the 2 in contention.
It's pretty clear that Gordon is not going to get traded in a fire sale. In that situation how would the Jets profit from acquiring him at full price with the potential suspension hanging over him and whoever acquires him? It was an interesting idea when it looked like he was going cheap. He's not going cheap at this point.
The context I view this in is how likely are the Jets to get someone of his caliber with whatever draft pick they are offering. A 2nd round pick likely will net a high quality starter... so that's a no go. A 3rd round pick on the other hand? I think he passes the caliber test on that one but his personal problems makes that a no go. A 4th is as high as I'd give up. I'd also be willing to throw in a conditional the year after based on his behavior in order to push the deal over the top. If he can be good moving forward (been done before - see Brandon Marshall and even Santonio Holmes) then he'd be a tremendous boost to the offense. He'd be a tremendous boost to Geno Smith. He'd be a tremendous boost to the receiving corps since he'd take pressure off of everyone else. Guys like that are invaluable. In Gordon's case, he's merely valuable due to the potential suspension issues.
Clearly the teams involved are the Jets, 49ers but there is a 3rd team who have made an offer but it sounds like it's the least appealing of the 3. the 49ers have the best one so I dont see why Josh would end up on the Jets but it'd be pretty sweet for the right price lol
It seems likely that the 49ers and Falcons are two of the teams. The third team is unknown at the moment.
That makes sense. I think the Falcons are a real factor in the bidding. Julio Jones out for the year and Roddy White hurting. They've got a real shot at the playoffs with Gordon and very little shot without him.
falcons make no sense. where would you play him when roddy and julio come back? i guess you could shift roddy to the slot, but im not sure i just hope we are in on this move. helps us a lot. i know we have holes at safety, olb, etc, but our defense is still top 5. we can wait on that and trading the pick for gordon gets us a bonafide stud instead of a stephen hill
False accusations got me excited for this. Someone in this thread said that they read on Twitter, that the deal between him and the Jets is done. I got excited for nothing
Nick Barlotta β @ NickBarlottaFN 58s I am now hearing deal between Jets and Browns is very close to done..Jets have 2 picks on table.... Deal of course regarding josh Gordon... A bullshit tweet to get people excited
Just read another tweet from him that said we are giving Cleveland our second and third round pick. I think this is Bullshit, but we'll see
I think if the Jets are interested Cleveland could be blowing smoke about all the other interest to see if we up the offer. The deadline isn't for another week, why would they not string this thing out.
I could see the Patriots giving them Mallet and a pick for Gordon. Browns were high on Mallet and the Patriots need receivers. That's the trade that makes the most sense to me.
