Honestly can't give you a straight answer on that, but from the looks of it, David Harris is a 3-4 player. If Vilma had been playing like that, nobody would be talking about trading him.

David Harris is a hitter. Nobody would be down on Vilma in the 3-4 right now if he brought impact at the point of contact. He just doesn't. Great sweeper but lousy intimidator.

Forget a trade, forget safety, I think they should convert Vilma to a WR.

In my Opinion Vilma's knee injury makes him untradeable. giving him away for less than a 1 is stupid, he has too much potential. Your not getting a one this offseason because of his down play in the 3-4. Now your not even getting a 2 because of the injury that is so mysterious we didn't know what knee was injured for 3-4 weeks after him being IR'ed. I don't even think a team would offer up an early 3 and a late 3 is handing him away imo. we should keep him, get that big NT and work from there. For crying out loud we should keep him even if we can't find the giant NT, because I think having Harris and Vilma in the middle is by far better than Harris/Hobson or Harris/Barton. thats the way things should be imo.

I would if we got a huge NT just think how much better Harris would be. Personally I think Vilma could be a good outside LB in the 3-4 but I think it's more likely he gets traded.

No way they trade him off an injury like that. They would never get more then a 3rd round pick. We bring him back for next year, continue to build the defensive line in front of him. Rotate him and Barton on non passing situations. On passing downs Vilma could be very useful blitzing and covering outlet receivers. I think if your a good football player you can play in any defense.

You don't trade him with this injury. If we get a huge NT, you hope that with less O-line personnel getting to the second level he'll be more free to rack up tackles with Harris.

The problem is no one on here knows the extent of his knee injury. I certainly don't. If it is as serious as some purport it to be (micro fracture or worse) then Vilma's trade value is dust and the Jets are practically forced to keep him.

As far as getting a real NT in here, Who is on the horizon that can fit that bill? This is a question not a statement as I have not heard a concrete name.

So far Vilma has not shown the right skill set for a good 3-4 player. Maybe with a true 2 gapper NT he will be much better. Then that begs the question can the Jets resign him? Will he want to play in the 3-4 even with a true 3-4 NT in front. My guess is no fing way. The Jets will either be forced to keep him till his contract expires or trade him for diminished value.

The answer really depends on what the FO can get for him.

Can we find a fat guy in the later stages of his career for a few years like a Keith Traylor type? There has to be a guy out there while we wait for the right player to be found in the draft.
