If I had to guess who these quotes were from I'd say Holmes was the #1 contributor. The one about the 36 year old Peyton Manning actually sounds like something Revis would say to me.
Back in Reality, The NY Jets are Much better off now than last year at this time. Just the Media obsession with "OMG!!! MELTDOWN" Or last year "WHOA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - Party on!!" that changes... Cimini was tripping over himself last year enjoying the Jets run.... But, these shmucks all have these Disaster Articles written and ready to go when a team loses 1 or 2 more games. very Fine line in this league.... At the very worst were a season closer to not having Sanchez at QB if it comes to that.... We're freaking Jets fans, I'm amazed that the media thinks they can scare us when we have seen what we have seen over the years.
I'm all for believing properly sourced and researched journalism. I just have my doubts that Mehta's 'sources' are legitimate (insofar as I believe they have their own agenda). He doesn't try to find the story though, just regurgitates what he's been quoted.
I can see Revis saying something like that too. He does his job, and he sees the defense mostly do its job, and to watch Sanchez play must make him badly want a better qb. Regardless, even if these quotes are just from Big Wood, Tone and Plax, that is telling enough.
This really a poor job by Manish. Go to any work place you want and you find people who are chronic complainers, in fact they thrive on that. Everyone knows that, except Manish. Really disappointing work. Sanchez had a poor year along with a whole bunch of Jets. We've reached the point where the "piling on" is ridiculous.
OR........................ You can go ALL-In and be the next Mike Florio I still can't believe this Ultra-Douche bag parleyed being the Douchiest Douche into a career and being interviewed and seemingly respected by NFL people and the rest of the media.... I followed PFT from the begining and it just Boggles my mind what that guy created out of pure crap!
It's hard to figure who they might be other than Holmes. Revis definitely wants no part of Peyton Manning. Why? Because Peyton Manning is going to suck up a lot of money and cap space and Revis doesn't like other players who do that. It'd put a real crimp in his holdout after next season.
I don't think any of this crap is all that bad..it will either bring the team together or tear it apart, in any event it won't be boring around here for the next 6 months.
You think Revis wants to get paid more than he wants to win? What gives you that impression? I would assume that Revis would go pick Manning up at the airport and drive him to the Jets facility to sign a contract if Manning became available.
Used to love this guy but I can't take him anymore, especially after this article with quotes not attributed to anyone. And his tweets are awful this year. I don't care about his knee rehab and I really don't need to read every week that Cromartie likes the Miami Heat.
This was an extraordinary bomb thrown by Mehta at the heart of the Jets. He just setup a situation where either Tannenbaum, Rex or Sanchez looks terrible and there's no way out of it. The Jet's locker room issues which already were obvious have just been highlighted again and the ante has gone up as a result of the story. You now have a likely offense vs defense divide that has been outlined for everybody to see. Was it good muck-raking journalism? That depends on whether or not people come forward and take responsibility for what they said and let the Jets manage the situation to an acceptable conclusion. If it's just nameless sources then what Mehta did essentially was to walk into the locker room with explosives tied to his chest and threaten to detonate them. This isn't just about this story. The whole organization and all of the players will now treat Mehta differently. Any sane coach, whether Rex or otherwise, is going to tell his players not to talk to Mehta except in platitudes and generalities now. It's a necessary step after he threw a bomb like this one. That means that Mehta's reporting on the Jets is now going to come down to the useless platitudes and generalities that are worthless for a sports writer and stuff attributed to nameless sources in the organization that is inflammatory and destructive to make up the difference so he can keep his job. That's Serby-land all over again, circa about 1988.
Because he held out all off-season in the Jet's most promising off-season since 1999. The only thing that was important to him was getting paid and he said so both in words and actions that season. He no doubt would. He won't get the opportunity though and if he did he'd likely suffer Eric Mangini's fate fairly quickly. Mangini named his kid after Brett Favre, that's how desperate he was. Brett Favre Mangini. Actually I hope he just named her Brett.
I think the contract issue was different then. He was on a rookie deal and wanted to get a pay raise after one of the greatest seasons ever for a corner. Now, he already has a deal, and its not like he will get much more money on the next one. As for Manning. Just like Mangini did with Favre, you have to go all-in for Manning. It's high-risk, but the reward can be 3 superbowls (something that was not the case with Favre because he was much older than Peyton). But maybe instead of naming his own kid Peyton Manning, he can have Cro name his next bastard kid Peyton Manning (insert mother's name)
This article did not say much about Sanchez to me. It did say however, that we have some bitches in this organization right now. Tanny has filled this team with no leadership and just overall bad people. Terrible.
