Lots of shit sliding down the wall?

You're right. The team was assembled in a haphazard way over the last 4 seasons and the crows are coming home to roost over it's corpse.

What the Jets need to do right now is move on and plan for the next window. They have a 25 year old QB who may or may not be able to lead that effort. They have a couple of solid offensive linemen who will likely be valid in the 2012-2015 timeframe. They have a few pieces on defense that are good for the forseeable future.

They seriously need to look at how they are going to build into that window because what they are doing now isn't working and what they did from 2008 to 2010 is ovuh. If this off-season looks like the 2008 to 2010 off-seasons the Jets are toast next year before they ever snap the football.

Sounds like a load of horse crap. They never name the "sources" of these BS article claims.

The great thing about the NFL is the league rewards mediocrity. Being a dysfunctional team in this league doesn't preclude you from making the playoffs on a regular basis. .

You know, come to think about it, can he be a source for this shit? What has he got to lose now? Stir shit up and leave or do they really mean just players said this?

Base on Sanchez horrific play during critical times and the way he mopes around the sideline like he doesn't give a crap - If i were his teammate, i would call him out too.. He thinks he deserves to be the QB as if he is this elite player and he needs to wake up because he is living in la la land. I'm not surprised that more than one of his teammates see him as a dud and a lazy dud at that.

This is what happens when a culture of unmitigated trash-talking without any accountability is fostered. Nick Mangold is absolutely correct when he says that a person should have the stones to put his name to the quote when he calls out a teammate. Even big-mouth himself couldn't even take appropriate control and demand accountability from players after the season collapsed, so what can be expected? I can't say that I am surprised by the comments about Sanchez, or that they are incorrect. For the first time, I am beginning to think, realistically, that Sanchez's days as starting QB for the NYJ are numbered.

That's crazy. He was the 'leader' of their offense and this reflects really badly on him.

We both agree Holmes has reason to be pissed. But on your bolded part there, wait a minute! We don't even know if Holmes was one of the sources, let alone that he went running to the media. Chill out a bit.

I agree with your take. Schotty may well be enjoying parts of this, but not THAT part, and also he could not risk it coming out he was a source for something like that, particularly if he is looking, as he is, for another job.

I for one would be less likely to hire him if I thought he were behind stories like this one.

The only rational and to at least some extent acceptable reason for being quoted off the record for a story like this is that as a current player you feel it is the only way to pressure the FO and CS to make what you think are necessary changes.

I am by no means a Sanchez homer, but give this guy one more year. For whatever reason, I am confident things will work out. However, its obvious they need to get another QB in for competition if it does not. Somehow I think this is getting blown out of proportion, but that never happens in New York.

Why does everyone assume it's Holmes? What happens if it's someone like Revis, Harris, Cromartie, Slauson, Moore, or even fucking DeVito?

I could see it being a guy on the defensive side of the ball being aggravated and pissed off. Think of how many good defensive efforts that have been wasted by our inept offense?

Right now this team is struggling to keep itself together and that's extremely troubling. If I'm Rex Ryan or even Woody Johnson, I'm calling everyone in a room and telling them we're changing our identity as a franchise.

The anonymous player that said we're looking flaky is right. We're a fucking laughing stock right now. Look at all the shit we drummed up with the Giants, and then we play them and lay a fucking egg. There's been too much talk and not enough accountability.

I have to be honest, I had a lot of respect for Manish leading up to this point. But this is 100% irresponsible journalism. When you use anonymous sources, you're supposed to have at least 1 person on the record, and you're supposed to identify them as more than just a player, ie an offensive starter, or something of that ilk. He didn't do any of that. For all we know, his sources could have been Garrett McIntyre and Matt Kroul. Not really guys who can stand behind those accusations.

Gee, I wonder why people would think it's the giant douchebag we have on the team. It's not like his poor attitude got him traded from the team he helped win the superbowl for a 5th rounder. It's not like he acted like a bitch and quit on the Jets this year. It's not like he didn't already call out his teammates in the media this year. Why would we think it's Santonio?

I think you just answered your own question... "it's not like he didn't already call out his teammates in the media this year". Tone's a malcontent but he wasn't anonymous. He doesn't seem to have enough of a filter to go "anonymous".

I think he caught an earful for that from real captains. He probably didn't want it again.
