In this case I think Manish had to make clear how many players had issues with Sanchez and which side of the ball they were on. If it's just Holmes and Cro, I'm not sure I give a shit. If it's 6 guys on offense including some starters, this is a big deal.

This is what sucks about contracts that are fully guaranteed. Guarantees for injuries are an important aspect of players' contracts and I completely support that. But, we are totally hamstrung now by having egotistical assholes whose drive to lay it all on the line vanished when they signed on the dotted line. We have maybe 14 guys on offense and defense that are getting paid what they are worth as foot-soldiers of this team.

If we do ever find out who Mehta's player source is, there is probably nothing we can do about it because in all likelihood it's fucking number 10.

Ryan needs to get everyone to shut up. If he wants to afford some literary license, let it be with the coaches. They generally don't care about a certain players stats as long as their unit performs the way it is capable. Everything a player should have to say to the media should be bland and boring i.e. "we won/lost as a team," "Keller made a great play," or from Sanchez "I accept full responsibility for the failure of the offense against this team."

On the main point, I believe Sanchez can be good, but also believe he needs a back-up quarterback that consciously makes him have a drive to stay as the man. He is immature, but I do not believe he's lazy in the least, and agree with JetsUK that it was probably an ill-fated attempt to be eloquent about needing a serious threat at back-up. If that is an accurate summary of Sanchez's perceived problems then we are doing okay. There have been so many fuck ups in the first three years of almost every quarterback's career, I can't believe the vitriol this kid has to endure.

I agree. If it is more than the usual or what we expected it isn't quite a big deal. Most people expect Holmes and Cro. If it is anyone that usually doesn't talk or has been here all 3 years I would be more worried

Great job, I'm glad someone else feels the way I do about this team.

I heard from an unnamed source once that Brady blows three Labradors in the shower before every home game. Seems to work well for him.

That's why there's good reason to believe they will.

    'Cause they're STUPID. [IMG]

You assume a lot of things it seems.

Hey....I've bashed him for doing what he did but compared to Jets players who want to remain "anonymous", Greg is actually turning out to be the better man ironically.

    EX-jets Damien Woody.

    Not CURRENT Jets player.

And you don't think Mangold is telling the truth in order to restore order?

    It goes both ways, broom.

    Note where it says "EX-Jets".

    Woody needs to shut up.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was coming from a front office guy. And if it was, If I were him, I'd worry about my job security at this point.

Well there's ONE guy who has Mark's back.

And this is in reply to that poster who openly wondered which Jets would defend mark in the next few days. Didn't take long, did it?

On the backup Qb thing, in addition to other reasons, there's always some downside with "votes of confidence" like Ryan and Tanny have been giving Sanchez. The risk is he will think is current performance is acceptable to them, or otherwise will feel no pressure to improve. If my boss told me I was doing fine, maybe I continue to press myself anyway, but maybe I think I can let it slide some, too.

On your first point, while Holmes may well be an immature and to some extent selfish player, I can also understand where he's coming from. It's not like the Jets ran an offense through someone other than him and succeeded. He thinks he can contribute more than he did and wants to succeed. What is wrong with that?

It is entirely possible he has come to the conclusion that Sanchez is holding the team, and yes Holmes, too, back. What of that? You don't really expect Holmes to say nice things about Sanchez off the record, do you? I don't even expect him to do so on the record for pr at this point.

I have no problem with Santonio coming to this conclusion, but wouldn't it be better to go to your OC,HC, and QB and ask for plays/schemes to be drawn up for you? That seems like the more direct way to solve this problem. Or push Mark after/before practice asking him to break down film or make more throws with you. There are other, productive, ways to go about showing your displeasure. Look how last year Braylon in Indy went to Rex/Mark/Schotty and said throw me the ball, I'll be open. We threw to him and we kicked a shorter field goal.
Santonio has every right to be displeased, but running to the media, quitting, or calling out the oline publicly is not the best way to handle it.

I wouldnt be that suprised if this was some psychology 101 from the FO to put pressure on Mark so that he comes out fighting and showing some spark in the off season - and also to encourage other players to show some team loyalty and come to his defence.

People say in public what the script calls for, behind closed doors or anonymously its different.

btw.. Just because he supposedly spent LOTS of time at the facility doesn't mean he absorbed much. Worse yet if he WAS studying and played like that then the result vs. effort clearly shows he hasn't got what it takes mentally and this game is 90% mental.

    :rofl::rofl:
I can sell the ocean to you. This here is class A exhibit of dysfunctionality. There is no spin to this. The FO and Rex have just been throwing shit at the wall, for the first few years the shit stuck to the wall, now, nothing is sticking and look at what we are left with.

I find it funny that the only player who put his name on statement about the players on this team is a rookie who spent the season on IR.
Be a man and put your name on it if your are going to talk trash about your teammates.

you dont think that football managers leak stuff to the press about their players to try to get a reaction from them?

I agree with displacedfan. It is acceptable to be displeased with the offensive production and also looking for answers as to why Holmes had such a bad year. I know I was on both counts, but I am one of the only Jets fans I know besides you guys.

I just think this remain anonymous stuff is cowardice exemplified, especially at a time where the team won't be together for another two months, until OTAs. (or did they completely get rid of them?)

I also acknowledge that I may be jumping to the conclusion on Holmes. But, as some have said in this thread in regards to Sanchez's struggles: where there's smoke there's fire in terms of being an ass.
