Although he hardly did great for the Jets this year, I would also not be surprised if Burress is down on Sanchez. But I am guessing, I concede. Let's put it this way - we have almost no reason to believe that it could not be anyone, D or O.

Oh I know it is common and accepted practice, but I still don't like them if that makes sense? We still don't know who or how many are saying this. It could be Holmes and Cromartie for all we know, but if it is Jimmy, Revis, Thomas, Devito and guys you rarely here talk it is a much bigger problem.

Having Mangold calling out players to be named, I would hope it is only a couple players quoted in the story and not many.

I remember reading a story about Kenny Stabler. The Raiders were playing Denver in Denver. Stabler apparently spent the previous night in a hotel with two, not just one, hookers, and plenty of booze, got almost no sleep.

During the game he threw three touchdown passes and the Raiders won the game.

Some dudes can handle it, but not everyone is/was Kenny Stabler.

Of course Sanchez can play better. But given the system everyone was in, with all the motion, and the weird pass pattern designs, and the 67 dropbacks, etc..etc and so on. I was never surprised when OL went offsides, or Sanchez had no one to throw to. The system made everyone worse not better. And that was on Schotty who was supposed to keep this offense on an even keel. It seems nothing worked...not just Sanchez. That is why I was vehemently opposed to Schotty and somewhat defended our QB.

    Yourself, on the other hand.

I understand your concern and even Mangold's point. But at this point, do you really think it will help if the players Manish talked to agreed to come out and say "Yeah, that was me who said that about Mark!"?

That would make it better? Think that through, since in fact I think that might make it worse.

Just woke up to see this story on ESPN.

It's just not good. I really feel that a lot of this is on Rex. It may be okay to let the Jets walk around and say, "Tom Brady is an asshole", but apparently, they think it's fine to rip and criticize their own teammates. Rex needs to control this shit and tell people there is a new rule.....shut the fuck up! Way too many players have something to say it seems.

Things seem great with Rex when they are winning, but when they don't, well, you see what's happening.

yeah, well like that is like your opinion, man.

Seriously, we shall see if you are right, and I hope you are. I will get no pleasure from I told you so's if the Jets O shows no improvement with a new OC.

In my opinion, I have felt for some time now that Sanchez's problems, which are significant, have to do with poor execution, specifically a lack of ability to read defenses quickly and adequately enough. I doubt we see material improvement in that. Again, I hope I am wrong.

Anonymous sources are useful when you're printing the Pentagon papers. I'm not sure there's ever a reason to use them in sports.

If you use an anonymous source and don't give information about the sources motivies, etc. then you're essentially saying "trust the reporter-this is a legit source with no bad motivations and I'm fairly capturing what's happening on the team." Well i don't trust Manish or any sports reporter that much; if he got this stuff from 15 guys, fine, but I'll bet he has like three guys.

I'm not saying that. I just was stating I never like unnamed sources because you don't know who, how many, and their motives.

I never said the players to step out, just that if Mangold is calling people out I would hope it is only a couple players quoted in the article and not many players. If it is a lot of players than a divide is going to occur within the locker room/team. If it is only one or two, winning will change their attitude.

You have to understand that he's not gonna shit where he eats though. With a huge headline story like this, he's not gonna fabricate all of this when he's gonna be right back in that lockerroom in 5-6 months needing all of those guys to feed him quotes on-the-record. Too much to lose. And honestly with some of the scum on this team and the way things went this year, is this story that much of stretch?

Rex needs to clean this shit house up. This is sad, I guess I now understand why Belichick does some of the silly things he does in regards to the media. People need to speak for themselves.
Other than Revis, I don't even know how anybody can look in the mirror and criticize Sanchez.

I'm no Hunter fan but, I don't think he'd criticize Sanchez when he was the one calling out Holmes in Miami.

A fair point as far as it goes, but you should also acknowledge that a journalist's cred is important to them and their value as a writer. We as fans know writers we think have no cred v. those who do, and tend to value the stories written by the latter for obvious reasons. Anyone in Manish's position has a choice to make. Do I put out a story with unnamed sources? Well, if you are concerned about your cred and rep, and understand that should be a concern for you for your own career's sake, then you are not going to run a story you do not have reasonable confidence in.

But if you do have confidence in it, and it is newsworthy, I think you run the story.

This, is why the Ravens didn't hire Ryan as their HC, they knew he couldn't control the team.

Definitely not, that's twice as many chances of throwing it in the wrong hole.

    Rats leaving a sinking ship.

That's the price you pay for importing talent with no consideration for attitude and personality. It's the price you pay for cutting loose a lot of proven leaders in the locker room all at once.

I call it the "Santonio Holmes Complex".
