I can do this too! If the Forty Whiners were St. Louis, they still wouldn't have won a Super Bowl since 1995. If the Chefs were Denver, they still wouldn't have won a Super Bowl since 1970. If the Bear Cubs were Green Bay, they still wouldn't have won a Super Bowl since 1986. If the Yucs were New Orleans, they still wouldn't have won a Super Bowl since 2003.
I think we really need to put an end to all this luck nonsense. There is no such thing as luck in football. Calling something lucky is a cop out and a convenient explanation for someone who does not have the wits to comprehend what is actually going on on a play or in a game as a whole. So now lets look at the so called "lucky plays" and so how much "luck" was really involved. The Romo Fumble: - Receivers were all covered (impeccable coverage at the goal line) - Romo flees the pocket and scrambles (good pass rush at the goal line to force him out of the pocket) - Romo tries to dive for the goal line and Mike Devito knocks the ball out; Romo does not drop the ball, the ball is forced out by the hand of Mike Devito. Everybody did their job on that play including Romo, the Jets just did their job better. If Romo gets just one extra yard he looks like a hero, sealing the game for his team. Credit the Jets defense for noticing Romo going on the run and getting their quick enough to not only tackle him, but to FORCE THE TURNOVER. This is what defense's are supposed to do: force turnovers. "lucky play" #2: The blocked punt. - Mcknight was originally designed to absorb a block so that Eric Smith could try and get a shot at blocking the punt. -Mcknight having noticed that Eric Smith was unlikely to get there changed his course of action to run straight through the middle completely. -Instead of blocking the scrawny mcknight, the cowboys offensive lineman turned to double team one of the Jets d lineman not noticing that no one else was going to block mcknight who has changed his mind on how he will approach the play considering the unfavorable matchup that eric smith has on the edge. -Mcknight runs in with great speed and blocks the punt and the Jets ST is well coached enough to get in position for the score after the block. This isn't luck, this is a jets player being smart enough and fast enough to adapt to a changing play and then having the physical skills to get to the punter before he kicks the football. Lucky play 3: the romo pick - Jets blitz and Romo is rattled -Romo's internal clock is sped up because of the blitz, he panics and tosses it to Dez Bryant, not seeing Revis in the underneath trap coverage which was designed to make it seem like the safety was covering Bryant and not Revis. This too is not luck, it is the Jets defense getting a good pass rush to force romo to scramble and then have the smart enough coverage to bait him into making a mistake. There we go. 3 reasonable explanations for how the game turned that does not rely on the cop out excuse of the unexplained idea of luck.
If the Jets were New England, we would've lost to the Giants too. Can we disavow that one? Kind of brings me down.
This is best post of the thread! But its better to keep this information under the radar. This team performs better w/a chip on its shoulder
