maybe this team can be perfect for Fitzpatrick? he won't be in the position to have to make big plays just to compete, or try to erase huge deficits on the scoreboard. i know he's got the gunslinger attitude, and hasn't always protected the ball well. but he's a smart guy, and this is the best situation he's ever walked in to. when his situation improved in Houston, he did take some positive steps, and this situation is an even bigger improvement. i think at this stage in his career, he has the potential to transform into an effective game manager. unless Geno is playing a lot more effectively in camp, I'd rather roll with Fitz provided he is healthy in time.
he wasnt a key piece. he was barely even a cog. that team won because they had the most dominant season a defense has ever had, and got elite special teams play and had a fantastic ground game. difler didnt turn it over, which helped. but he did very little. to say "why didnt they win with the qbs who came after" is kind of dumb. Why didnt the 86 bears win? why didnt the 15 seahawks win? why didnt the 2009 giants win? because its REALLY EFFING HARD to win the superbowl, especially to repeat.
to go a step further: Vs. Titans: Ravens blocked a FG for a touchdown, Rey Lewis had an INT return for a touchdown. Ravens defense scored 14 titans only scored 10 Vs. Oakland: Ravens Special teams 9 - Oakland 3 vs Giants: 84 yard kick return by lewis, Starks 49 yard int return for a touchdown. Ravense D/ST scored 14 points, the giants only scored 7 2 of those games the ravens could have won without the offense ever playing a snap, including the superbowl.
The Ravens defense and special teams scored more touchdowns (5) then trent dilfer did (3) during those playoffs. what big plays was dilfer making. clapping as rey lewis returns and int for a touchdown doesnt count as making a big play. one of those "big plays" was a ball that dilfer had intercepted but the ravens player hit the corner and the ball popped up in the air, sharpe got it and took it to the house. dilfer did nothing. the ravens could have won the superbowl that year taking a knee every offensive possession. their defense wasnt just great, they didnt just hold opponents, they also scored.
Your not concerned about Gilchrist playing FS? And reports are the Jets tried claim Swearinger off of waivers who is another SS... When was the last time we had a ball hawk roaming the middle of the field? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i AM concerned with him. i said im concerned up the middle at ILB and safety. but my concerns in order are harris-pryor-gilchrist. but those positions in general scare me a bit
