If the Jets are "Hellbent" on taking a QB in the draft...What would you do?

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by JetsTillDeath, Mar 24, 2006.

?

Which do you like?

  1. Trade up - Assure we Get Leinart

    20.4%
  2. Stay put at #4 - Take Cutler or Young..Leinart if available.."he wont be"

    32.0%
  3. Trade down - Hope Cutler or Young is around

    9.7%
  4. 2nd or 3rd round - Kroyle, Jacobs, or a guy like this

    27.2%
  5. Later rounds - Wait to the second day, draft a backup.

    10.7%

I didnt say to take a te in the top 10, i said it was a need. We might trade down. And the "shitload"of defensive backs would be a whole lot more promising if we got Williams.

kimo, drob, ellis...where in the hell does mario fit in unless we are staying with a 4-3? They have to take into account the fact that our offense blows. I dont think tangini can get away with taking a defensive player number 4 overrall when we're in the shape we're in.

Kimo might mask the problem, but for how long? Hes another 35 year old reject that might at best hold up for 2 years. Mario Williams is probably already qualified to start, and he will be here for years.:eaglessuck:

Cutler!!! Just look at what he did during his pro day in the same type of weather he'll be in here! He's smarter & stronger then the other two and 75% of Young's passes will be knocked down at the LOS!!! JUST SAY NO TO YOUNG!

Now I don't want Cutler, but I totally disagree with this reasoning. John Elway was never on a team good enough to play in a bowl game in college. I'd say he did a fine job winning in the pros.

Good point. I can't seem to find Cutlers stats other than 2005 anywhere - do you have any links? Given that he didn't win too much, he had better have put up super numbers.

Although Elway never led his team to a bowl game, he had an accomplished college career. In his four seasons (1979?1982) at Stanford, he completed 774 passes for 9,349 yards and 77 touchdowns. His 24 touchdown passes in 1982 led the nation, and he graduated with nearly every Stanford and Pacific-10 career record for passing and total offense. He won Pac-10 Player of the Year honors in 1980 and 1982, was a consensus All-American, and finished second in Heisman Trophy balloting as a senior. Although his team never qualified to play in a college bowl game, in 2000, Elway was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Off topic side note is that Stanford would have become bowl eligible his senior year had they beaten Cal, but they lost on the kickoff return with all the laterals and the band on the field.
