personally i would rather get one game changer and 3-4 depth guys. this team right now has too few above average players and too many guys that should be depth.
This team has too many heaping sacks of shit as starters. Hunter, Smith, Poole, Pace (ok hes not THAT bad), whoever starts opposite Pace that week, our DL is meh, Plax (or his replacement), Mulligan. Id take 5-6 guys who are 7/10s @ their position instead of getting one guy who is a 9/10 + some trash depth Thats just me tho
strictly off the top of the head....... aaron glenn hugh douglas j. mitchell revis vilma moss sure there are more but not too bad.
In a vacuum I believe you are correct. Having a home run hitting running back would certainly make a huge impact on the offense. However - the question is who to take at 16. If Richardson falls to the Jets at 16, and talentwise there is an equally talented receiver and/or safety and/or outside linebacker on the board, then I'd take any of those three over the playmaking running back because I believe they would make a bigger impact. If Richardson is BPA then I'm all for him - however when you weight position based on need I believe Richardson would be a luxury pick.
If Richardson is still available at 16 there is no debate he is the BPA and I don't care who is still on the board. I find it extremely unlikely at this early stage that he makes it out of top 10. I don't really want to trade up for anyone but if he does make it past 10 we should be calling around to see what it will take.
I think its completely worthless for us to call around to look into the trade up option. Because any team willing to shop their pick is ABSOLUTELY going to call up Cinci and have them match or beat any offer we make. And I absofrickenlutely guarentee they will match or exceed any offer we put out there. The only, and I mean ONLY way possible that TRich is a jet is if we select him @ 16 overall. Nothing else will happen, period.
I think if Richardson falls out of the top 10, Cincy swoops in by trading up. I do not see him falling to us. I'm not a draft expert, but if he is as good as every thinks, I don't think half the league passes on him.
I dont think it happens either. But simply put the running back isnt very important in Rodger Goodells nfl
This would be true if we had a good scouting department. If we keep all of our picks I would be surprised if we got more than 3 good to decent players.
there is not 1 team that pulls 5-6 contributors in one draft and like i said,if there is a chance to get a real game changer(not necessarily t-rich) on either side of the ball i would give up some picks to get him
If that's the case, then that should be all the evidence that Woody would ever need to fire Tanny and the whole scouting dept. Sooner or later, Woody needs to wake the eff up, hire a team president that is a football man and has a solid career working in the NFL, and let him hire the new GM and over see the whole football operation. Neither Tanny nor Woody is the guy to be running things and making football decisions.
I have to admit after reading Cimini's newest Q&A and us legitimately having a chance @ Mario Williams (if the front office wants him) If we could get Williams then id be a huge fan of us trading up for Trich. Id be even happier if we did that then maybe traded Greene for a 3rd or even 4th
our main jets forums in there. by no means does it suggest they will happen, but he suggests all 3 are in the realm of possability
What makes you think Woody has the foggiest clue about what he is doing as an NFL owner? Look at his tenure of ownership. It's like Pin The Tail On The Donkey. Football style. He really is the Charlie Brown of franchise owners.
You get no argument from me on that. In fact, I'm in total agreement and have said as much here and on other sites. One would think that he'd look at some of the other, more successful teams and see how they are run, and then take a look at Jets' history and see what has been missing. That missing piece is a football man to serve as President of the team and to make all the decisions regarding football. If Woody had half a brain, he'd have done that already by looking at Leon Hess' lousy example of how NOT to own/run a team.
