If Mariota is sitting at the Jets pick...

?

If Mariota is sitting there at the Jets pick you'd....

  1. Pick him in a heart beat

  2. Swap with Philly for their 1st (#20) another pick in top 4 rounds and Foles

  3. Swap with any team with a top 20 pick, a 3rd or 4th rounder, and their next year 1st rounder

  4. Would swap, but it would take more than the offers in the poll

If they draft a marginal QB at 6, yes.

I am on the Winston camp. But claims like yours don't make any sense. Maybe you and me are wrong and Mariota is the better prospect. Nothing is 100% when it comes to draft so maybe you shouldn't question other people's credibility as talent evaluaters. Just saying :)

Well I can't speak for Rockinz, but I've never said that Mariota is a better prospect than Winston. I think both are supremely talented and will both be top end QBs in the league. Winston is much more pro ready and has a brilliant arm and football mind. My only issue with him is the off the field stuff which I believe is overrated but still a concern. My preference is Mariota because of the athleticism but I'd take Winston in a heartbeat. And I'd trade up for him if somehow TB passes on him and takes MM (which I don't see happening).

Evaluating how they translate in the NFL is a guessing game. Evaluating what they've done and how they do it and how that measures against what you look for is pretty cut and dry.

I had the same feeling. Unfortunately, that's how disgusted I'd be with the pick.

Wow.. Newsflash: you are NOT jets fan.

Now... Why Cheatriots specifically? Is this because of BB's perfect drafting history?

You do realize Geno and Fitz are our current QBs right?

Yep. And all things considered, I'd prefer it that way.

So Chip Kelly doesn't know what he's talking about either and doesn't have any credibility right?

Winston is a great prospect but he makes mistakes that will eat him alive at the pro level. He turns the ball over through ints by forcing it and not reading his progressions quick enough at the collegiate level. At the pro level windows are smaller and reading progressions is quicker... Not sure how he will fair. He has a great arm but a slow release and I love his confidence but that can't be the his best attribute.

IMO Mariota's game is much more composed and his football IQ is off the charts good. That's why he only turned the ball over 4 times and had 42 TDs. His athleticism, calm demeanour and toughness makes him one of the best prospects at QB since Luck.

    You will see soon enough!

Judging by Chip Kelly's offseason moves....he's not qualified to by a fluffer on a low budget porn set.

You'll fit right in with the rest of the bandwagon Pats fans.

And BTw, you should not be questioning anyone's talent evaluation skills when you post such stupidity as saying Mariotas upside is Alex Smith.

Then you must not really be a Jets fan. I could understand it perhaps if they were drafting someone who had been accused of rape, had a history of violent crimes, or who had a bad character. But with a player who has a very good chance to develop into the franchise QB this team has been looking for and who has GREAT character, there is NO excuse. You're obviously looking for a reason to switch allegiances, so you might as well go ahead.

So, why Cheatriots specifically? BB's great drafting history?

Can we put this narrative to rest? This is 2014 NOT 2008 or 2009.
