Laughing? It looked like he was relieved that Folk made the kick.

The fact is that the Jets had chances after that drop to win the game.

They recovered a fumble on NE's 18 and go for two runs (one with Tebow) and get sacked. So they took the lead, but were too conservative and instead of going for the kill, they went for the fg knowing that Brady could easily drive his team down the field to tie. Obviously the fg was the right play on 4th down, but it almost looked like they were playing for the field goal with the first and second down calls.

The defense then proceeded to allow Brady to do just that. March his team down the field and let their kicker who rarely misses kick a game tying field goal from 43 yards.

Then the defense holds NE to a field goal in OT (not all that great considering how well they played up to that point) and then Sanchez fumbles on second down and the game ends.

Either way, that's two chances that they had to win after that Hill drop and one where they weren't aggressive enough and paid for it.

He looked really nervous like any young players does after making a big mistake. He realized he might have cost points for the team and the tie/lead. Happens quite often around the NFL

    I saw this.

Terrible drop. The guy - unlike Holmes - actually looked like he wanted to cry on the SL after dropping the ball.

    Holmes?

Totally agree. The Hill drop was big but that isn't where we lost the game. We lost the game when we failed to truly capitalize on McCourty's fumble. We ran into the line twice and got sacked (the Pats had a free-rusher) in what was a remarkably atrocious possession. That debacle combined with our soft, uninspiring defense on the last drive of regulation, is what ultimately cost us this game. Also, that PI call in overtime looked like complete bullshit, but I never got a good second look at it.

uhm, no we weren't. We were DOWN by three when Hill dropped that pass. We would have needed a TD there to take the lead.

Not sure that "hands" can be taught. Hill may just be stone hands forever. Hopefully not.

So many Ifs in that game, If they didn't let that kick off for a touchdown, if they didn't fuck up the hand off and get a safety, if Cromartie catches that gimme int, if the refs didn't call that bullshit PI, if if if...

When a team fumbles the kickoff on their own 18 yard line with 2:00 left in a tie game, they're supposed to lose the game. Period. The fact the we let them off the hook is unforgiveable, and shows that this team, and this coaching staff has a LONG way to go.

Rex played for a FG, figuring his defense would hold the lead in the last 1:30 ...but he better get his head out of his ass. Stopping Tom Brady on 4 consecutive downs without a pass rush? NO FUCKING SHOT. And as a head coach, he better know that.

We all know so much watching on TV and in the stands. But what do we know about how it really is on the field? All I know is, the Jet coaching staff knows a lot more than me. But man, they should have given it to Tebow or Greene for that 1 yarder!

I feel horrible for Hill, he might be the goat of this game yet he wasn't the sole reason why we lost this game. He looked upset and I don't blame him. The kid is barley old enough to drink yet he is asked to be a big time weapon on this team.

Yeah that was a SIMPLE catch too. He had a couple like that this game, and so did Kerley. Don't even get me started on Schillens. He really is bad. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but his play is sloppy and he can't catch. Hill's going to be a beast when he improves his hands. I can't be that hard on him because his a rookie being thrown to the fire. He catches that ball, we probably score a TD and the game's over. If Cromartie catches that pick, we probably win as well. Ah well, shit happens. At least we know we can compete with the Pats. I think we'll beat em next time in our house. We had 1 mistake too many. At least the hardest part of our schedule is over. We're still very much in the hunt for the division. Our schedule gets easier and the Pats gets harder.

Just FYI for people who haven't clued in on it yet: Stephen Hill is not a natural at all. He's actually a very awkward athlete who frequently is out of sorts on the field. That's one of the reasons that good CB's have shut him down so far, if they get him off-balance during a play he really can't recover in the time-frame he needs to to be relevant.

Now the good news is that he's a hard worker and that he'll get better at his trade. He'll get more experience with how to deal with getting jammed at the line and mis-directed in the first 5 yards (and a bit beyond that) by a hand in the back. He'll become a better player as he gets more reps in.

He's never going to be a star though. He's going to be a solid receiver at some point if everything breaks right but he doesn't have the innate ability to put together his physical talents and use them to dominate the people opposite him. He's going to be the Jets #2 WR at some point but they're still looking for #1.

I could see him as Braylon Edwards in the role he played with the Jets. That's where I think Hill's upside lies. The difference is he'll be a lot quieter about it.

I don't understand statements like this. He's played in what, 4 NFL games total in his life? Why say never? That's negative nancy pessimistic clown talk. He's outperforming ALL receivers drafted prior to him this year... but he'll NEVER be great. Kinda funny that people think like this after only a few games in his young career. He has to get better, but saying he'll never get there, is just nonsensical.

Was wondering about this myself. Are "hands" teachable? I've seen receivers develop the ability to take hits, sit in zones, run routes better, create separation, blocking down field, adjusting routes to blitzes but not so sure too many receivers have developed great hands over their careers.

Would love somebody to give some examples just to give me some hope.

Hill dropped it but we got it backed, got screwed w/ the clock but still had a chance to end it and then our D had a chance to at least make iot a difficult kick for NE and they failed as they always fail in big spots.

Just watched the replay of that drop on sportscenter, man.............Hill has got to catch that ball if he does we get a first down we either get a TD or kill the Pats timeouts, but to me the Kyle Wison pass interferance on 3rd down was worse then this
