I remember Parcells coming in and cleaning house! He didn’t do everything right in hindsight. But he made the team competitive in one year, and remained that way into mid late 2000’s. He traded away 1st ballot HOF left tackle, Pace at 1st pick, for extra picks that did not really pan out, he traded away Hugh Douglass for 2nd round pick that turned out to be waste, quite honesty his drafts were pretty miserable, except 2000 when he had 4 1st rounders, but what he did was pure magic!!!! He made a TEAM that was driven and had leaders. That loved football! And we were 1/2 away from super bowl in 2nd year he was with the team. Only if that could repeat itself.

Cowher is the only Parcells type I can think of who would receive instant credibility, doesn't seem like he will ever

Question: If we drafted Mahomes over Darnold would Gase have been able facilitate the Mahomes of today, or would he look like Darnold yesterday?

I am watching the game and I see some similarities in their games, and talent. Mahomes is thriving, Darnold languishing.

That was the thinking of the time: that BB left because Parcells was going to subordinate his role on the Jets by staying on as GM and controlling everything. I thought that was the likely case as well. However we know now that Parcells was actually deadset on getting out of town ASAP. He and BB would not have co-existed on the Jets for more than the 2000 season.

What BB was really afraid of was that Parcells would leave abruptly and hand him the mess to clean up and that BB's career would go down the toilet in the process.

 

I'm watching the game too, and I realized I will not live long enough to see the next Jet Superbowl. I'm not real sure anyone presently on this MB will live that long either...

 

Andy Reid is a QB whisperer, guy should have 2 SB rings to his name. Reid is an offensive genius Gase is not.

Mahomes has the talent but Andy has the glue to put it all together.

If Jets drafted Mahomes he would be above average with this CS and offensive scheme.

Greg Williams took over the Browns and went 5-3 down the stretch.It needs to be Greg Williams nothing else makes sense.Hes one of the only coaches in NFL history to take over mid season and finish with a winning record.

 

We should target Bienamy, not sure he comes... but I am liking his game plan against nfl best D.
