I don't see how we sign Brock for less than we sign fitz for.

Plus no way Denver just lets Peyton retire (assuming) and just restart with no QB lol.
They will keep Brock for sure. It's his time now there.

    definetely not at $15-$20 mil.

but suppose the option is Fitzpatrick at $10 mill or Osweiler at $12 mil?

They went back to Manning because he is Peyton Manning.Brock showed me something when he lead the team to beat the Pats who did not lose yet up until that point. He had a few clutch drives that were impressive and beat the Pats in OT which we all know isn't easy

and after that he showed us that he can't score points for shit. especially in the second half of games once the opposition made halftime adjustments .. like the steelers game.. that coulda put us in the playoffs and voided the "win and in" situation.. *sigh* but like that game and the few after that Brock played.. second half of games were just FLAT.

yup, i don't see why they let him go just to put themselves in panic mode trying to find a QB.

Interesting question, how long are we talking; 2ish years for or long term? if its 12 for 4ish sure.

i think you'd have to consider pretty long term if you are going to land Osweiler. Fitzpatrick would mostly be short term. In my hypothetical world is Fitz 2 years/$10 mill per vs. Osweiler 4 years/$12 mill per.

maybe not realistic in either case but if that's the scenario I would take Osweiler

Burleson's definitely trying to get Rock Lobster a payday, but it's definitely not coming. At least not guaranteed money. Whatever contract Lobster signs will, most likely, look like the Dalton/Kaperdouche/Tanwful contracts that have escalators/incentives, and are relatively cut-friendly. As for the Jets, no way they sign him for 15-20 million. Even a 10M baseline seems excessive, given his performance in 10 starts.

I could definitely be wrong though. (There's always the Browns/Rams.)

    Good one.
If the Browns continue their "winning" ways. I can definitely see them throwing something stupid at one of RG3, Bradford, Kapernick(in trade), Osweiler. I'd even throw Fitz in there, but he's an older fella(by NFL standards) at this point.

Hadn't even thought of the Browns going hard after Fitz -- that'd be in line with their going after McCown, and seems definitely in the realm of possibility.

I just don't see Fitz wanting to go any where else. He wants to be here and Mac will pay him to be the starter

You use that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I don't get how these crazy numbers for Fitz and Brock...

Brock at 15-20 is a joke

Fitz was a journeyman bonfied back up, Geno gets punched out and Fitz takes the job by default with one of the best WR duo in the NFL. Now we are talking about 10+ mil per?!

With Marshall and Decker I think any average QB could do well.

If Fitz is as smart as he thinks he is he will want to stay a Jet because our WRs are legit and Chans offence puts him in a place to succeed. If not he will end up being cut after a 1 year pay day deal.

If the Jets let Fitzpatrick go and sign Osweiler for $15 million a year it would probably be my final straw and realize the team is doomed forever.

When you say average, do you mean an average QB relative to all the QBs in the league, including backups, or an average starting QB? I'm not sure the exact dollar value of the average starting QB, but the median is nearly 17 million.

For me, it would all come down to the guaranteed money. I wouldn't guarantee a ton of Osweiler's contract because he certainly could end up flopping. With the way NFL contracts are setup, it's all about the guaranteed money as we just saw with Cromartie.

I think if Denver let's him slip I'd think a team like St. Louis or maybe even Cleveland throw a ton of guaranteed money at him because they're so quarterback deprived that they'll do just about anything to right the ship especially with a younger option. A team could come out getting a steal in Osweiler if he turns out to be the player he had the potential do.

Either way, I highly doubt Denver let's him get away. He's perfect for Kubiak's play action offense with two legitimate deep threat receivers on the roster. They also also have both corners, both receivers, and will have Von Miller locked up. They're going to lose some good players but their core will remain on the roster to the point where they can't gamble on drafting a quarterback and closing their championship window with a guy who needs to learn the system, and adjust to the game.
