Well, we have to look at the whole picture now, which has suddenly become significantly clearer. Kendall is returning, chances are, not as our center. There is a bit of buzz that Bentley is on the radar now. In all reality, we could probably solve our OLine problems through FA now. On the QB front, Penny has been restructured. There is a very good chance that we will solve this position through FA as well. I read that Brees is almost surely done out in SD, and he is my first choice. Yes, I know he had the same type of injury as Penny, and he had surgery, but he had arthroscopic surgery, and he is already ahead of his rehab schedule. Given the choice of Collins, Kitna, and Brees, I take one in this order: Brees, Kitna, and don't even consider Collins. At this stage, I would rather trade away the pick, maybe even for first rounder next year (in case the QB situation doesn't work out) and work on other positions in the draft. Maybe pursue a CB, or Hawk in the second round, or my favorite, who is not a big fav around here, Croyle. We could also opt to upgrade the RB position. I think the Jets have done some really great things this past week or two. Thanks to Tanny, we seem to be in much better shape financially, and prepared to use FA and the draft to build a championship caliber team within the next 3 years.
I wouldn't mind Young in Green, but because our team is in the beginning stages of rebuilding...I would rather go after someone else who isn't such a hit or miss player.
i agree they have done a great job with the cap so far and seem to be making all of the right decisions. so what ever the FO decides to do with the pick i will believe they know what they are doing with it better than any of us or any of the analysts do. so i really will be happy with whatever they decide i would just prefer one of the top qbs with that first pick.
So you don't want Cutler, Leinart, Young, or any other position? What the hell do you want then, a Kraft tee kid?
I agree. We must go RB or QB with our #1. A talent like Young is rare. If he is there are 4, you couldn't get the card with his name on it up to the podium fast enough.
Hey if you don't start rebuilding the O line now our QB is gona get killed and we will never be able to keep him healthy so thats why I say get the best LT there is and that is D'Brickashaw Ferguson. As for TE we have a project in Dressen and we have Jolley too. We need to draft D'Brick and Mangold in this draft and give this line identity.
Do you think he would fit into a offensive system involving Mangini? I personally think it would be a smart draft choice, but, I doubt Mangini goes after this guy.
i never said dont rebuild the o-line i just think we can rebuild the line later in the draft and if the new cba gets passed through free agency.
Agreed, but i'm saying that we need a Primo LT and D'Brick is it why not make him your Lt for the next 12 plus years? Who else would you go for? free agency possibly.
I still beleive he would draft Young. Anyone would. Hes a great player and he would bring great leadership to the Offense and he knows what it takes to win.
If Young falls to us at 4 there would be quite a few teams wanting to move up. We should ransom the pick and have a great draft for rebuilding.
Good point. I don't think there is any way Belli would draft him. I don't think Parcells would either. Considering that Mangini is supposedly from the same mold as these guys, Young will never be a Jet. Not for lack of ability, or any of the Wonderlic stuff, but because these coaches believe in the pocket passer.
Yea but you really gotta look in the situation were in. Our Oline has many holes and will have many young players. RB is a question Mark. We would need a playmaker at QB someone who could deliver in this Offense and be the leader.
