I don't know how you can say this. You have no idea what the plan is. Just because you can't accept the fact a team isn't torn down and built back up again in the span of two years doesn't mean what Idzik is doing isn't effective. I won't claim to know either, but logic dictates that he's going to spend this year on our own guys that need to be brought back as well as free agents. You don't save money just for shits and giggles, which is why the impatience and claims of ignorance make me laugh.
actually logic dictates he will low ball or release the current veterans based on his track record. bye bye Harvin, bye bye Harrison, etc.
IMO, there is no freaking plan. You want to build this team from the draft yet you cut a bunch of draft picks, trade for Harvin (who IMO is good but wasn't worth the money and trade). By your 3rd yr there should be somewhat of a foundation provided. There should be SOME hope for the future. Tell me, what has Idzik done to make you believe he has a plan? The money doesn't bother me, it's the picks he selected in the draft. He's awful.
You don't think Harvin, Decker and Ivory is a solid foundation offensively with guys like Amaro and Kerley as support? To me, that's a perfect scenario to plug a competent QB into.
I would consider firing a GM after 2 years a mistake in most every scenario. That is dysfunctional franchise type shit. You cannot even really judge a draft class until after 3 years so how do you legitimately evaluate a GM prior to even one of his draft classes being evaluated? I do not like what I've seen from Idzik so far but not a single fucking person on here knows what goes on in his office. Not a single one. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards before taking two steps forward. Unless Idzik is creating an extremely toxic environment I believe the Jets needs to allow his plan to go forward and allow it to play out. His job should be safe for now.
He has no plan. Not an effective one, anyway. FO Homers like yourself refer to "the plan" as if it was some sort of talisman. It's just a fakeout covering up rank incompetence.
Where's the offensive line? Decker is good as a #2. Kerley has been MIA all yr. Harvin you have to hope he stays healthy and to me as a receiver he's not all that impressive. Explosive play-maker but not worth the tag. And he drafted Geno Smith - the man can't evaluate talent.
How many players did we miss out on in this draft? How many drafted players do we have that are still on this team? 2 yrs as a GM - I think at this point you should have a good idea on how his eye for talent is via the draft. Hell he missed on 2013 and 2014. Thank God for Richardson.
This is a digression, but I think it is not a sure thing Harvin is gone. At his current contract number, yes, he is not staying at that. But there's logic to Harvin redoing his contract.
There is a plan. The execution hasn't been the best so far. But I'm willing to see how these draft picks develop over the years. I'm willing to see what moves he makes. He's been year for 2 years.
Yes, there's nothing magical about giving a GM more than 2 years. No rule against coming to a decision based on 2. If the results to date were more ambiguous, that would be obviously different. But this team has no defining overall strategy, at least not one that can be discerned from actual results. The Jets among other things are no closer to finding a Qb than when Idzik came to the team. The secondary is as ineffective as I can remember it being. The OL is aging at key spots with no real talent in the younger players. Everyone has their favorite examples of Idzik incompetence, but to me the net result of this year being a wasted year was sealed by staying with Smith after 1-4. I assume that was his call, and when you add mismanagement of the draft, particularly the Sanders situation, that alone is grounds to be fired irrespective of it being only two years. FO Homers here who "see" progress are delusional.
Yea things would have gone MUCH differently had we gone to Vick earlier. When we finally went with him he looked great. Solid accuracy, great athleticism, barely turned the ball over. Big Blocker continues to be the worst.
So drafts gets judged based on one year? If you're judging the draft in a vacuum; then that's one thing. But these players will have other years in which you can evaluate them.
Vick sucks. Who signed him again? Oh-right. The same guy who drafted Geno Smith as well. Lets keep him around though and blame the players.
That's the part that sucks. We compare the rookies Idzik took in 2013 to the rookies everyone else took and its a disaster. Now we get will get plenty of years to see & judge just how big of a disaster it was.
I agree - there is no progression here, no foundation provided. We have more needs now than when Idzik first came here. It's gotten worse. There's no plan - the same freaking scouts are scouting this team.
