Everyone is so quick to jump down the OPs throat but if you really think about it, the OP is completely right. Sure none of us want the Jets to lose this weekend but the reality is the chances of the Jets going undefeated are about slim and none. If they are going to lose a game this is a game that is not really going to hurt us when its all said and done. We are basically playing this game with house money, if we win great, if we lose ok on to Miami.
Sorry I'm not buying. Losing is never a good thing and we are the no longer the same old same old. I am changing my outlook on games. I'm no longer going to be worried about who it is we are playing. We are the New, New york Jets. I want a win on Sunday and and make the NFL realise we are the real deal.
I hear ya...a LOSS is never good but if it happens here so be it. The Saints are good, we'll be on the road, and they are a non conference team. If it hass to happen I'd rather get beat here than against the Fish or Buttfulo over the next few weeks. Even if we lose here I could see us ending up 7-1/6-2 at the half way point which is a great place to be for a playoff run.
it would be better than last year when our 8-3 team, on the way to a SB with the Ginas, lost 5 straight to bottom dwellers (yes, we lost to buffalo). losing a close game on the road to the 'top team' would SUCK but is the best of the worst. edit:...with our entire secondary banged up (or not even playing) and without our top pass rusher
I always mind a loss....I understand that its an NFC team and if we had no choice but to be 7-1 at the bye then yes this would be the game to lose but its still a loss and I dont like them.
Exactly. WTF is going on around here? How about winning a game by overcoming adversity on the road with starters out? Believe people, stop saying it is ok to lose.
I know it. .I can't believe what I'm reading around here sometimes. We have people saying its okay to lose, or you have other people getting WAY ahead of themselves and start making plans to go to the Super Bowl. How about, let's win the next game. It's against a good opponent and the victory can mean a lot to our team.
I think the point is - a loss to NO does not have to mean "OMG...end of the world....season over!". Did anyone expect the Jets to be 4-0 at this point....really? 4-0 would be incredible but 3-1 with 4 very winnable games coming up is really not so bad.
I don't want to loose! I want to keep rolling until we have our typical "Oh my god how did they beat us" game and New Orleans isn't one of those games.
The problem is in the past this is usually an AFC East game and it keeps us from getting into the God-damned playoffs! I am hopeful this will not be the case this year. Understand - I don't want to lose to anyone and I want the 2009 Jets to have a magical, undefeated season with a rookie QB & HC and be the talking/reference point of every NFL related conversation for the next century. But I would rather have our "...oh my God, how did they beat us..." game be against the Saints then any AFC team we are playing this year, ESPECIALLY a division opponent.
If the point is that a loss this week wouldn't be devastating, I agree. Otherwise, this thread is failsauce... terrible attitude to have.
how is it a terrible attitude to have.... and some of you need to read the whole thread before you comment. "I truly think we can win" and "I would love a win" both are in my opening statement. If you truly think the jets can go undefeated you need to watch the jets who play on Sundays and on Monday, not the ones that you play with on Madden.
That's not the point. You actually said you would be okay if they lose. I am not wired that way. I get pissed whenever they lose. So it's not okay to me if they lose. Period.
Some of you understand what I was trying to get across, a lot of you didn't. I was just saying that a loss to the Saints would not be the end of the world. Do I want a loss, HELL NO, if we can play at an extremely focused level. Rex said that for a few practices following the PATS game where bad practices, and look what almost happened. If it wasn't for our special teams play we would have lost last week.
I'm with you, Scotty. I never go into a game thinking a loss is okay. Thank God our team and coaches don't think that way!
