Why on earth should the JETS bring back Pace kevmvp?!?! Even if he was asking for the minimum, he has underachieved in green and white the past three seasons. If both Phillips and Pace could be had at a reasonable price, I bring in Phillips. Pace had 28 career sacks as a JET in his five seasons since 2008 and only had 3 sacks last year. Phillips had 38.5 sacks the past five seasons since 2008 and had 9.5 sacks last year. Pace is almost a year older than Phillips and I'm not even going to mention the number of Pro Bowls Phillips has been too. I don't know how this guy is overrated!!! He can easily help the JETS pass-rush for a year or two and help out the younger players get to the QB.
I don't want the Jets to bring back Pace. I'm saying he would be a better option than Phillips based off of price. Pace can it least play the run well but I don't want either. Sacks can be overrated. Your judging Phillips based off of what he does on a small percentage of his plays, what else does he do outside of those 10 plays last year? He wasn't a very productive pass rusher based off of how many times he was attacking the QB, he didn't really generate a lot of pressure. He also can't play the run. Pace can it least set the edge. But his game has declined as well. I wouldn't want either. We are much better off with Barnes and then drafting an OLB or 2 to come in here and play the other spot.
And all I've been saying from the "get go" was that if the price was reasonabale and low with some incentives, I would like Phillips to be in green and white to help out the young guys but I know that might not happen. Setting the edge or not, the JETS need people that will have an impact on the football field and get after the QB with pressure, hurries, and sacks. I definitely agree with you that the JETS need to draft some guys that can get after the QB and help the defense.
