I've devoted my life to fighting terrorism. What the fuck have you don't to stop terrorism besides trying to be an internet badass?
Seriously? A lot of countries require 6 weeks of paid vacation per year. 3 weeks is a small amount of annual vacation. Also, this isn't about me. I don't need time to reflect on my life.
yeah and that's why a lot of other countries suck ass. That's way too much vacation. Especially when you add holidays to the mix. At one of my previous jobs some time ago, its a long story, but basically we wanted to sell our product in Spain. We needed to contact government personnel, like small business department or whatever, to get the right to operate there. It was the month of August. We called and emailed the right people like a shit load of times that month. No response. We're like "WTF? How are we supposed to sell our products there if the people won't respond to anything?" September 1st rolls around and they contact us. I paraphrase. "Oh sorry, but you know you were trying to contact us in August. (like what do you expect?)" "We're like- what do you mean?" "Well nobody works in August. Most offices and certainly our government department is closed for the month."
Sounds pretty goddamned civilized to me. What do you think, the Spaniards couldn't possibly live without whatever piece of Chinese junk you were peddling or something?
Yea, but actually having to show up is a killer. On the other hand, tgg traffic would be reduced by a good 15% during a 4 day work week
Yep. A lot of elements of my organization are international, and I spend a fair amount of time scheduling around ridiculous amounts of Euro and Asian holiday gaps. I always thought Boxing Day was reserved for hating Floyd Mayweather.
Next you're going to tell me you think it's bad that they take 3 hours off in the middle of the day. But yeah, apparently it's traditional in Spain for everyone to use their vacation time in August. Not literally everyone, but most stuff is kind of shut down unless it's catering to tourists. The US federal courts kind of grind to a halt in December because a lot of judges just take off the last ~6 weeks of the year.
