Very true. It's been said for years in the inner circles of the NFL --- "As goes week 2, so goes the season."
This thread is stupid.....and so is Hobbes. Seriously. One particular loss is now more important than another loss. Just stop.
The only reason the Patriot game stands out is because it was our only single-digit loss. Every other loss was 10+ points, although it looks more like the Steeler loss will be the most costly. Especially since they were still 0-4 when we played them.
I get what ur saying or trying to say, we shoulda won that game all the other losses were blowout type of games so yea I get ur point and id say yea it def hurts now
Retard comments brought to you, by the same guys, that said we had no chance to win that game, when we had to actively work to lose it, and...in doing so, miss the playoffs. Which is what I said prior to the season. But hey.... It didn't work out that way right? We had no chance to win that game....and winning that game doesn't put us in the playoffs, right? Yeah, you guys really know what you're looking at.
I said it, before the season started, al, the ass clowns, laughed when I said, steal that gMe. Make the playoffs, and that was before Sanchez got hurt.
Would we have the tie breaker over the Chargers if we had an extra win over the Pats? We'd both be 9-7 but Chargers would have the better conference record.
Winning the PITT, BUF, TEN, MIA, CIN games also does the same. And there's no guarantee that a NE win in week 2, all of sudden the rest of 14 games (15 for every other NFL team) plays out the same. Your speculating to pretend you know something you don't. Maybe we don't beat NE the second time. Also, it's easy to say "steal the game in Foxboro", it's a lot harder to accomplish. The Jets have never done it under Rex in the regular season, and last time they did it with Brady playing for NE it was 2006 season. Guess what, next year, that game in Foxboro is going to be important too, and the year after, and after, and after. You know why? Because division games are important, always will be.
And in general, we could and have done this for every season. We win in Foxboro in 2009 and everything plays out the same, we win the division. We win in Foxboro in 2010, we are 10-2 and NE 9-3 with 4 games to play and the H2H sweep on NE. In 2011, we are 9-7 and make the playoffs most likely (and if things change, maybe we don't self destruct in MIA). In 2012, well the one year it really doesn't mean much since 7-9 vs 6-10 isn't anything different.
