I searched for Holmes with quite a few of these quotes, like everyone else, I suspect he's a source of some of it. I tried another search and I found Tomlinson has used the term "No Brainer": http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/lt_thrilled_santonio_on_board_xwLR7P122uVBJX6ifFyKxI Tomlinson: "I couldn't have been happier when I heard about the trade," said last night during a promotional appearance in SoHo. "Seriously, Santonio for a fifth-round pick? That's a no-brainer. He's going to help us out a lot, and I'm excited to play with him. It's going to be fantastic." The term "No brainer" isn't very good for what I'm trying to do. Again this is all a stretch, but interesting imo. Could Tomlinson be the source of both of those? And a few others? “At one point, he was looking at the (pass) rush and wasn’t seeing the receivers,” a team source said. “I think that’s a lack of confidence in what we’re doing. I think that's a lack of confidence in how we’re protecting him... When you get hit the way that he got hit, there were some quarterbacks that wouldn’t have made it through the season.” “Come on. That’s a no-brainer,” a Jets source said. “If you have a chance to get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning and you don’t do it, then you’re stupid. If I could get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning, then, hell yeah, I would trade Sanchez.” pair them up with: “We already have his coach — Tom Moore,” one well-respected player said. “Plus, he’s a field general and will get everyone lined up. He will get his playmakers the ball. We can win a Super Bowl with Peyton.” “I don’t think that he’ll come here,” a member of the Jets organization said. “We have to change the perception of our organization. We’re not the organization that players said they wanted to play for a year or two ago. We’re starting to come across a little flaky. We talk the talk. We don’t back it up. We’re out of control. There’s no discipline. It’s a mess right now.”
The "prominant player" is probably LT. My initial thought on the "Jets source" was that it was Callahan with a few parting shots on his way out the door.
I think all the "souirces" Mehta spoke to are the same "sources" his predecessor at the News Cimini used to find for his own opinions... John "Make em up yourself" Doe
It's NOT Mason. Mason isn't a New York Jet. He barely was one. Besides he had his "tell all" article this week why would he remain anonymous in this one.. Just cause he's said "No Brainer" once in his life means absolutely nothing. That's a "no brainer"
It does sound like a Bart Scott comment. But seriously though what is wrong that anyway? Every football team in America at every level treats their Quarterbacks differantly, especially young quarterbacks. A Quarterback's psyche alone can make or break a season : much differant than a LB or TE's for example. The only position I can see that is comparable with the psyche factor is Kicker. And its no coincidence that most team's position players will make the claim that the QB and K are being "babied" I don't see it as too big a deal.
If you read the whole thread, you would have seen my post on this page saying that "No brainer" really isn't a great choice for what I'm trying to do. I even included a disclaimer at the start that this is just speculation. Yet I knew someone would feel the need to say "OMG THIS MEENZ ABSLOUTLAY NOTHIN!"
Sorry man for the tone I wasn't trying to attack you or anything. I saw your disclaimer but I did overlook your comments on "no brainer".. It was just too easy to put the words Derrick Mason and No Brain in a sentence....
I doubt it was Mason or LT, one has officially retired and the other is thinking about it..they could care less what is happening with the Jets.
It was not Derrick Mason who made those comments. "Mark, I've never seen the lack of work ethic, ever," said Mason, who earlier in the week revealed plans to retire after 15 NFL seasons. "Because he worked extremely hard on the practice field, he studied his butt off. He's a guy that wanted to get better each and every game. I just think he was inconsistent throughout the whole season last year." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d825e8b27/article/exjet-on-sanchez-he-worked-extremely-hard-in-practice?module=HP11_headline_stack
right, because retired players never comment on their former teams. holy shit, do you even think about the nonsense you type before hitting submit?
