That would be an awful idea. If you're going to draft Ferguson (which I disagree with, but for arguments sake), then Jones is either the LG, or on the bench. In a draft class as deep with tackle talent as this one, there are 5-6 guys who could become a strong RT for us. Jones-Kendall-Katnik-Moore-drafted.
Two things. One, you act as if him getting bigger is all that matters when it comes to him playing the RT position. There are so many differences, with technique, hand placement, footwork, etc., and this is just the tip of the iceberg. You also act as though the Jets drafted Jones to be the RT. The only reason he was the RT this year was because they wanted to break him in slowly, and that wouldn't happen by immediately making him the LT. They also had an emergency hole to fill when McKenzie left, and Bradway was too stupid to actually draft an offensive lineman that could develop into a future RT for us. Jones was raw coming out of college, but possessed the natural skill set to develop into a very good LT.
Alan Faneca is one of the best guards in the NFL and he plays for the Steelers. Jeff Hartings is a very good center and is one of the better ones in the league also for the Steelers. As for the Pats, this year their o-line had no stars but they had Damien Woody for their 2003 super bowl win. Just because you don't want an offensive linemen doesn't mean you need to make things up, just say i want to reach for an under sized, average to below speed running back in Williams or we could pick up Davis because the combine is so important. D Brick is worth the pick. PS: I want DeAngelo Williams too but not at #4, and would love Davis as well but there is no need for him.
He would be an all right stopgap, to allow a young player to get ready. He's better for depth, or as an emergency starter.
This FO is VERY good at holding their cards close to he vest, so we are all left to guess. My guess is that with all the holes on this team, and LT not being one of the many positions in DIRE need, they go elsewhere.... not Ferguson. Jones is NO RT. Which RT they may take is also very up in the air, in my mind. Do we get a 1st round pick for JA? If we do, which one? Katnik, according to Cimini and several others could be the starting center.... and they have Kendall to fall back on if he doesn't work out. The kid was a 3 year starter at USC, and won a national championship in his senior year. I don't know much about him, but he's a sleeper. He was voted an All-American at Collegefootballnews.com after his senior year. I think that they will take their top rated ORT with the second pick in the draft, wherever that lands. It's hard to guess at, because that may well be a first round pick. Winston, Justice, McNeil.... hard to say. Could be another player too, if it's our second round pick at 2.4. If they don't like Jones at LT, they will hate him at RT. If there is a run on RT's, I could see Gilles, a guard being taken too. Trying to figure the Tangini machine out right now is very difficult.... we have no track record of their tendencies. I really don't think they want to go with Kendall at C, and that turd at LG again. We shall see!
they werent taken at #4.. we get davis at 9, and williams at 15.. ferguson is not worth the pick.. we didnt go 4-12 for a year to just pick a LT.. we should get 2 playmakers on offense so we wont go 4-12 again..
I can't believe people think we are going to hold off on getting a QB this year because Brady Quinn will be in the draft next year. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE WE WILL BE IN A POSITION TO DRAFT QUINN. Holding out on the slim chance we would get him (or that he'll be any good) is idiotic. Draft Leinart, Cutler or Croyle if we don't get Schaub.
but we dont really need a QB if we get schaub wicht isnt looking good then i would draft croyle i wouldnt want to draft a QB at 4 but anything can happen
At Lt, right now I'd be fine w/ either Jones or Ferguson. But at RT neither are good fits. We will most likely be targetting an RT at our 2nd pick. They will compete w/ Cavka for the starting job.
No, I like Kendall, but as a guard, not a center. He was just completely lost at C last year, even forgetting the fumbled snaps. He let jason Taylor blow by him on a stunt (most people here still erroneously blame that sack on Jones) and he was just lost.... on most passing downs, he never even engaged a defender. He had no clue who to block. He was LOST. Zack Thomas made him look silly. The poor guy.... he only played like 6 games at C for Az like 6 years ago. When Mawae went down, they had him calling O line blocking assignments, and he didn't even know who HE was supposed to pickup. I hope he is the plan F.... of they don't draft a center, and this kid from USC busts.
i thought cavka was a LT and anyway is he pretty good and would he be a good RT? i havent seen him play would he be good at blocking the bull rushers?
He's a better bet to handle bull rushers than Jones or Brick would be, due to his superior height and decent wingspan.
Do you have ANY idea what the word PUNCUATION means? You have made an abomination of the English language throughout this thread. I suggest you get off the Jet websites and hit the books. But before you do run out to the store and buy yourself some PERIODS!
