Just to play devil's advocate, but maybe Rex would rather pay a Franchise Quarterback instead of paying Leon. And possibly we could keep our first rounder as well to select more of a back that Rex is accustomed to having. It would never happen. Let's just get the show on the road, the 4 o'clock start sucks.
Wow, that's a bad trade. One Jets/Browns scenario I can see is if one of the DE/OLB (like Orakpo) falls to #17 is something like Pick #17 and Brad Smith for Pick #33 and Brady Quinn. The Jets get their QB, while still likely being in position to land one from the group of Britt, Harvin, Nicks and Robiske at 33. The Browns get an edge pass-rusher they desperately need and a Mangini favorite in Smith.
I would take that, I would like the 5th to keep but overall good trade, maybe coming back could be another 6th
Harris and a 1st and a 3rd would be enough for Mangini to pull the trigger. He engineered the trade up for Harris in 2007 and really likes him. Cleveland currently has D'Qwell Jackson and Eric Barton inside. Adding Harris to that mix would give the Browns a rotation inside that would be nearly as strong as the Steelers. BTW, I'm emphatically not in favor of a trade-up in this draft but if the Jets are going to do it they'd better pull the trigger on Sanchez.
That would be a great scenario I think, Quinn plus Crabtree or Maclin with their #5. If this could happen I would be all for it.
On second thought, when we're on the clock, why not our 1st and 2nd rounders for Colt Brennan and "cash considerations." Or we could trade up to #13 and snag Rhett Bomar, the QB out of Sam Houston State.
I completely agree with you. You are not alone. For the Record, I'm not a huge believer in Sanchez. I'm not ruling out the possibility that he will be great, I'm just saying that nothing that I saw from him at USC tells me that he will be.
Rex wants a legitimate QB or deep threat WR...just so he can run the ball without having the safeties lining up in the box to stop it...that is why the Jets WILL move up for one of the two.
