What exactly are you in limbo about? If Petty or Hack started the entire year the Jets would’ve won max of 2 game, likely less and Bowles would’ve 100% been fired. Now the fans may have preferred that but why would Bowles prefer that? There is no limbo, Jets future QB is readying themselves either for a bowl game or the draft at this very moment, the FO/CS will get one more chance to find him.
Because Petty has played a whole game and half and Hack has played Zero games this season... If they had given them each 8 games they would know what they have... they were also both picked by This regime... at least they would have a Much better idea of what they have in that position & would know who they Need to draft... the way it is now they can say we still want to give them a chance since they haven't had enough actual playing time to properly evaluate them... these ARE the nyj. :/
Yes, but you simply cannot give someone the job if they do not deserve it and Hack / Petty did not deserve the job. Perhaps you can blame Mac on bringing in McCown but that's about the only issue I see here.
Petty has now started 7 games in his career and has shown everything there is to see for him. The fact that Hack can’t even get a start in the last game of the season after two straight embarrassing starts by Petty days all we need to know about him. Bottom line is the staff needs to hit on the FQB this draft or there will be a new staff trying again next year.
Bruce Arians and Cardinals are agreeing to part ways... Get Bowles tf outta here and get Arians on a private jet over to NY right now.
Well, I had much better hopes for the kids but you have proved me wrong. Petty did not show me a thing. He will be gone next year. IMO if we start another year with Bowles and McCown this team will be a joke.
The QB position alongside the center position has to be the 2 biggest positions that need to be addressed ASAP. If Mac and Bowles cannot see that, then they both need to go.
There is alot of positions that need to be addressed ASAP and in one off-season that is not going to happen.
Petty and Hackenberg have strong QB skills and didn't develop at all under this regime. Part of that responsibility has to be on the CS.
Agreed. But because Mac always drafts the BPA he does not draft for need. Now he could, in certain scenarios, have the benefit of drafting BPA and need. He may ultimately end up using FA and/ or the draft to address those very obvious needs.
I am not sure if he can find a really good center via FA, but he needs to address it, and that doesn't mean swapping crap (Wesley Johnson) for a center that's crap w/ upside. We need a talented center that knows what he's doing, if the Jets draft a QB you cannot have Wesley Johnson setting the protections for the rook, otherwise the battle is already over. Better off having that guy just sit down and avoid the punishment.
To sum things up, Bowles going with McCown as the starter over Petty and Hackenberg, cost the Jets a shot at a franchise quarterback, and earned Mike Maccagnan and himself another year. That's one more year we have to suffer through until we get the right GM who needs to pick the right coach.
Do you honestly believe in your heart that Mike Maccagnan, who has shown he is risk averse, is going to somehow make a bold trade to move up in the draft? Another question to ask yourself, do the owners let a desperate GM, who might not be back in a year, mortgage their future for a qb? Remember, this is the same guy who drafted and completely whiffed with the Petty and Hackenberg picks in his first two drafts, and also passed on Deshaun Watson for a SAFEty pick in his 3rd draft.
Yeah, I think Mac would move up in the draft, even so drafting at our current position, the Jets could still get a franchise QB, the Jets must do their due diligence and HWK. I don't consider Watson a safe pick. Unfortunately, they put their chips into the Hack situation and hoped he had improved. They gave him a shot. There was reasons why teams were nervous in terms of drafting Watson. Notably his arm strength in the strong winds. Most of his games have been played in a dome or in nice weather. They will do what it takes to field the best roster. Happens all of the time. The Rams just had this scenario and fired their coach the next year in Jeff Fisher. The same could very well happen with Mac and Bowles a year from now.
