This is more of an inditment on Schotty than anything. Schotty wanted to air out the ball and Rex wanted a ball control style game-plan (the one that got us to two straight AFC title games). Hence the reason that play-calling douch is gone.
Hell i am still concerned about our Offensive line and were talking about another receiver. If I am not mistaken didnt he hit his MOM or something like that.. OH YEAH that will go over real well in NYC,,, I can just see it now.
Did you see the way Holmes and Plax ran routes last year? Did you see them turned around watching the plays instead of blocking? Did you see what I saw and many others? Who you gonna blame this season now that Schottes gone? Let me answer that for you the NYJETS already decided its gonna be the scapegoat Mark Sanchez ...........watch and see.
Idk guys lets check back after the preseason, maybe even a few games into the season before we decide how desperate we are at wr. And if we look at dez we better be DESPERATE.
Jerry is just trying to scare Dez. He thinks the Cowboys' opportunity to win games is closing and Dez is a big part of the reason they have the talent to win games. Dez is a frustratingly inconsistent and underachieving player. He still has to be accounted for on every play, however, because of his incredible athletic ability. Dez makes Miles Austin and Jason Witten better (and they're already damn good) by helping soak up some of the attention and coverage they might receive. Dez is a headcase that makes Santonio appear well-adjusted. He would NOT be a good fit for this Jets team. The potential for things to go wrong is entirely too great and the gain in talent is not worth it. This offense is going to live or die by how productive Mark Sanchez plays; Dez Bryant does NOT make this offense more user-friendly for Sanchez.
WRs can come out of nowhere in the regular season; I think the Jets need to have more faith in the guys that they have. Also, keep in mind that the Jets aren't counting on their passing game to carry the team to victory. They aren't running the Colts' offense of the past decade. They just need a respectable passing game to help keep them in games so the defense can not have to contribute to 90% of their wins. And hey, does it occur to anyone that the BEST thing a WR can have going for him is chemistry with his QB? Kerley could be the least physically impressive WR in the league and still be good if he and Sanchez get comfortable together and establish a great connection. Look at the Giants in the past few years; Eli made Steve Smith (one of the most physically average wideouts I've ever seen)in to a probowl WR. Cruz went undrafted and look at the leap he was able to make this past season; a leap he credited to working 1 on 1 with Eli (they lived close together and met up frequently during the lockout). Hakeem Nicks is looking like the best WR from that draft class of 2009. His QB's talent and comfort level with him is what makes him great. Let Mark Sanchez build a rapport with some wideouts and start to build an offense.
So the Jets had this great game plan which was start different combos of WR every year and make trades in season and make some useless replacements (after the fact and beofre the fact useless).
I think the inconsistency of the WR group is one of the MANY mistakes the Jets have made in developing Sanchez.
I really feel like some Jets fans don't realize that Braylon had 15 catches last year. He was a very good player for us, but he's not that player anymore.
The biggest mistake is the pressure they've put on Sanchez from day 1. The expectations are so high there is no way Sanchez can reasonably achieve them. Dude, let the Braylon Edwards love go. It's like the Sopranos. It's over now. Find a new show.
Dude, you should have been around BBI (Giants' forum) last offseason. Between Kevin Boss leaving for a cheap deal and Steve Smith going to the Eagles, that place was awful.
I agree. Set up an offensive system that can use the talents of the young WRs you've got rather than chasing after old guys with bad wheels and big names. Good grief, it couldn't be much worse than last season. What did the Jets have? A couple of 35-40 yard completions all season?
THIS! Why would you use tone as an example for why they SHOULD get Dez. If anything it should be a cautionary tale!
It's wholly possible that if we kept him, he might not have gotten injured and continued as normal. At the end of 2010, I said the 2 most important things were to lock down the receiving core. Too bad we didn't get our replacement until this year. Schilens has a chip on his shoulder and Hill is moving in the right direction. It's going to be a fun year.
The whole "chip on their shoulder" thing is a little overrated IMHO. I mean, this is the NFL. Everybody plays with a chip on their shoulder on every play (besides Randy Moss:lol. There's only one chip that matters, and thats talent.
LOL, i guess it's fairy tale land today! 1st, bryant's not getting traded in the near future and if he was to be traded, you seem to think the jets are the only team competing for him. 2nd a 3rd or 4th rder and shilens or kerley? LOL. why would dallas want either one of those players, they've accomplished nothing in thiis league! you value shilens and kerley like a jets homer, dallas doesn't.
Yep and they rarely threw deep so most of the plays were YAC which isn't a bad thing but they don't stretch the field. Kerley to Mulligan (yes you read that right) was probably their longest pass play or an LT screen play against WAS. The few times they took shots were jump balls to Plax who would turn around, not run in stride. They have the talent, they need to develop it properly. Not sure if the Jets can do that at WR.
