Big difference is those two articles are fan blogs, not by people paid by the major newspaper in a respective city. Funny I haven't paid a dime to this cat and I can't imagine people running out to get subscriptions to the Miami Herald because of an article that was written in the Coral Gables High School Gazette was published by them.
This Salguero dude is receiving more attention than he deserves. He's a dweeb, a lot of Dolphin fans don't even like him.
Every time someone clicks on that little blog of his, it generates internet traffic. You charge for ad revenue based on the traffic that your website generates. So yes, every time Armando writes a polarizing article that 1,000 jets fans click on in order rage, it generates the Herald money. Money isn't just generated in subscriptions. Now, with that said, I don't know if his blog even has ads (but being that it's on typepad, I'm sure it does) because I'm not a complete idiot and use firefox w/ adblock and noscript.
The man clearly makes a living writing inflammatory nonsense. He only exists as a writer because people read and react to what he writes, and here we are, reading, reacting, validating his existence. :shit:
Armando has had a history of hammering the Dolphin's acquisitions and moves. So this isn't the first series of polarizing articles he's wrote. It's why most Miami fans don't care for him either. He's made a living off of the rush/o'reilly/Olbermann approach. It works. I guess now that the Dolphins have made respectable moves toward getting better, he has to entice other readers. Who better than the New York market?
I understand that but the article was posted here so 90% of us never clicked on it. I generally don't click on articles that aren't posted. I have friends who worked in the newspaper business and those fuckers are as shady as the oil companies. I won't support them unless I have to.
it's june and we don't have anything else to do besides hate this ass clown. once training camp starts he will be old news to most of us. i'm sure he will eventually reach francessa status where nobody cares about anything he says, but until then let the hate roll.
The OP article is great until the last couple of paragraphs where it becomes a bit homer-y, but I don't really care about Salguero or what he says.
It's always been that way down there. I recall my first trip to Miami when I went to the opener in '95 and we got spanked in 98 degree heat. Chrebet's first game - Kotite - you remember... Anyway, I grabbed that paper in the airport for the flight home and couldn't believe what the Dolphins beat writer had to say about the game. Basically immature stuff about how they had to get ready for the season opener next week, this was the final preseason game, blah blah. Real funny stuff. Then he goes after Chrebet referring to him as "Sherbert" and saying how he didn't belong on an NFL roster. It got me so pissed off I saved it all these years. What an A-Hole. As bad as we were that season we beat them when they came to NY and everyone knows what became of Chrebet that season. So, all of this shouldn't matter to anyone. Just laugh and keep hating the Dolphins and be thankful that after Shula left they've more or less become a joke - even with a decent W/L record they are a joke, but continue to be over rated year after year after year...
The only thing more pathetic than Salqueero's homer articles is the fact that people are writing lengthy blogs about him.
What's even funnier is the way we dominated them for 85% of this decade, I think from the 1st year Parcells was here we had won 17 out of 21 against them even with ass clown Herm as the coach going into last season. I even think Groh swept them
