and you are absolutely clueless if you think there was one problem the lack of a running game was a huge problem in the first half
I had no problem deferring, if we stop them of course. At the very least not allow 30 minutes of real time go by before Mark gets his hands on the ball.
Shonn Greene's not a premiere back (yet). He's done nothing to show that he can be a #1 back on a team yet. He's constantly leaving games with small injuries. He needs to play in a committee. I think we need to form a three back committee that includes Greene and McKnight. Another power back is needed.
This fresh in January shit needs to go. Stop craddling Greenes nuts and let him get the chance to be a premiere back. If he cannot handle the workload on an entire NFL season then he doesn't belong in the NFL, period. Green should definately get 75% of the load next season and become a starter. LT/McKnight a 3rd down specialist. As for the 10 minute first quarter drive I'm suprised it hasn't been brought up yet. But was anyone pissed we didn't challenge the 1st down call earlier in that drive??? The one where Cro pushed the dude out and he was clearly a yard short but the refs again gave them a phantom first down. Would of be 4th and 1 from about the 50 in the 1st qtr, can't see them going for it.
Did any of you guys hear his speech to the team prior to the Pats game? He is desperate for a great run and the Jets give him that. I'd take him back next year in a heartbeat- he liked playing for the New York Jets. If we are to make a serious run next year Tanny has to work his magic and we are holding serious cards here. I think Lt will be back and will be our feature back for the first part of the season.
You can't just say no excuse like there was an absolute in the choice LT had to make. It was a gaping hole, it closed. In the NFL, gaping holes close quickly.
Cant questions LT's leadership............. McNight plans on having a bigger role next year: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2011/01/jets_rb_joe_mcknight_looking_t.html
Shonn was supposed to be the premiere back this season, but his head was in his ass in the Baltimore game and LT took off. Shonn did have a good year though, I hope he gets a lot more carries next season.
How is that smart or not smart? This guy is going into his 3rd year, if we drafted a guy whose just going to play in the playoffs wtf was the point in trading up to get him??? He should start and get 20-25 carries a game, period end of story. If he can't handle that in his 3rd year then hes close to bust status. I see guys all over the league coming into the league their first year and carrying this kind of load and they seem to be fine why can't Greene in his 3rd?
No, no you don't. Teams don't have backs carry it 25 times a game any more. Only 6 guys carried it more than 20 times a game last year-MJD was the league leader at 21.4 a game. 17 or 18 a game is just fine.
There were 5 guys in the league who handled that much of a load this season. I'd like to know who all these guys "all over the league" getting this kind of load in there first year are. It's a 2-back league now, teams are being more smart with RB workload because they realize how quickly it destroys them.
This team is built for January, if we can win w/ Greene getting 50-60% of the carries why overwork him? he has shown he gets dinged up and I wouldn't want to risk him for 75% of the carries. 75% is a high %. Of the top 10 backs in rush yds: -Arian Foster 77% -Jones Drew only had 58% -Jamal Charles 41% -McFadden 44% -Peterson 64% -Turner 67% -Johnson 78% -Mendenhall 69% -Jackson 77% -Gore 51% Only 3 had at least 70% of their teams carries and Foster wasn't the same in the 2nd half of the season, Johnson averaged 3.9 YPC his last 6 games and Jackson had a rookie QB and avreaged 3.8 YPC for the season.
I didn't realize the percentages were so balanced out. I'm wrong here clearly. Still prefer him to get more carries than LT or whoever are back up is next season.
I think we all agree we'd like to see him get more carries than LT or whoever else we bring in.
