Remember, every team had its cap space increased, so every team that thought it wouldn't be a FA player can afford to be a little more liberal. This means that free agents will demand bigger contracts because there is more money to go around. I don't think this extra cap space will do a whole lot for us.

Now's the time to bring in young guys and not a few big "names" approaching the twilight of their career. If the JETS are smart about this "cap space" and do not spend foolishly they have the potential to build a solid team for years to come (see Philly's handling of the salary cap)

I have to agree with you here. Unless you can get a young core player (Bentley and Wil Witherspoon are the only 2 ones I see that aren't franchised), I wouldn't spend real big money. Just some cheap stopgaps on the O-Line.

It'll be interesting to see what exactly this management team is looking for in players. They two guys Ramsey and the OT from the titans don't impress me all that much.

were a young team 4 tha most part except 4 a few guys like kendall and curt so we might as well sign young guys to deals signing old guys like mcginest and washington is stupid and will be bad for us and i think u shuld feel the same way idk how ne1 can say that signing old guys is a good idea ummmmm its pretty obvious

We're a young team for the most part, except for a few guys like Kendall and Curtis, so there's no reason to sign old guys like Washington and McGinest. By the time the Jets are good, they'll be done and be cap albatrosses, too, so that makes no sense at all.

Can we at least try to use proper grammar and vocabulary? At least a little bit of it?

im not sure it is an either or

we dont want to sign washington or willie if they cost a lot, but if they arent that much, sign them

neither will be a jet in my estimation

What you are over looking is the fact that this increases the number of teams that can go after Abraham from 3 or 4 to about 15. Can you say bidding war?

Yes, we might have to spend more on an FA, but how much more? Lets say we go after the Raven's tackle, Kemoeatu. He might have cost 4 mil a year.... now, maybe 5 for a 5 year contract?

Honestly I hope we don't go after these older players, saying that guys like McGinest and Washington played with Mangini is crap. Who Cares? John Lynch is Herm's child's godfather and that went as far as a token visit to Hempstead. Older players go where they have the best chance to win, loyalty means nothing when money is involved. Just look at Johnny Damon

Honestly the only players I would like to see the Jets target in FA are Schaffer and Josh McNown. Laugh about McNown but I feel he is the best FA QB and he wasn't really given much of a chance. If we bring him in and he can be had cheap and has a good season that would allow the Jets to not target a high QB next season. I honestly think this guy can resurect his career here. My philosophy about FA spending, do it wisely not freely.....

McNown makes Vince Young look smart. I'm being honest. He is clueless on a football field. Great arm, good mobilty, but why will AZ give up on him? Warner? I don't think so. He's as dumb as a brick.... football wise, I'm willing to bet Young is a genius next to him.

I think the most accurate statement about our cap is that we're currently $18 mil under the cap and will be around $27 mil under once we trade JAbe.

    You have no clue.

We are now about 20 mil under, and will go to 28 under once Abaraham is traded. In other words, yer full of shit.

See, I know banning is only if one person calls another names...or curses...but doesnt article 67 paragraph C line 47 clearly state:

Banning for calling person names or cursing at a person is automatic. Banning can also take place if someone states nonsense as facts.

I know its a bit vague...but perhaps MM, Tony or Petro can look into this option.

I can believe we are that much under we cut players, restructured, plus with the new cba deal that adds another 7.5 million.

    I can believe it.
