They will never move to LA. Woody, may sell the team and buy an expansion team to go to LA, but the Jets will NEVER leave the area. At least not for 100 years
Agreed. They don't even want a team in LA, there's no passion for it, they've lost two teams already. You're going to leave a market where you have a ten year waiting list for tickets to see a team that has won two divisions in 38 years to move there? I don't think so.
In 1986 I did. But, at that time the Red Sox never won anything.... And I was 18 years old.. So growing up it was always Yankees Vs Mets..... The Sox and Yankees were never good at the same time thru the 80's and there really was little reason to hate the losers from the North, it was almost comical.... At that time being a Mets fan was the biggest Bandwagon I've ever seen - i think it's pretty much when the Bandwagon was invented, at least in my life... SHEESH..... I grew up getting FREE Mets tickets on milk boxes - I grew up playing hide and seek in Empty Shea stadium during games... I grew up going to Met games with school groups and friends just for fun cuz the whole day would cost you 10 bucks... We were the 1st group to ever sit in the lf bleachers... Next day they put up padding so you couldn't harrass the visitors. Then BAM!!!!! I had neighbors, an uncle and people I knew going to Mets game who never saw a baseball game in their loves.... Tons of Women and kids, now all Met fans!!!! And that stupid lady that used to twirl her arms behind the plate... Plus the fact that team was among the most hateable All time in sports - Bunch of little cocky bastards.... Here I am, a Lifelong BASEBALL fan and now I have my freaking aunt telling me how exciting the Mets game was.... UGGGHHHH!!!!!! HATED THE METS!!!!! I do admit in retrospect though that the outcome and Buckner play was pretty much Perfect..... no way in hell do I root for the Pats though..... If they don't win the SB this year the whole season is forever refered to as the year they blew it..... HATE THE PATS!!!!!!!! The Giants aren't really that hateable.... They are a long shot underdog....
That must have been a fun time to go to Marist. Go Rick Smits! I was at Marist in the summer of 99 for a 2 week geek retreat. Actually played some pick-up ball with Smits, but I didn't even know it was him at the time.
Yeah, I was the year after him. They made the NCAAs twice with him then they were on probation for his and my senior years. He played pick-up ball all the time in school, I played a (very) little football so I was down at the athletic center a lot before basketball season got going.
If someone hates the Giants enough to root for New England, that's fine. I'd never do it, but I guess I can understand. I'm a Jets fan. The Giants are irrelevant to the Jets most of the time because they play in the NFC. New England is very relevant and evil, so I hate them. It's really simple.
I was the second tallest guy there and on the other team and had to guard him. I got owned and he was maybe going 50% to take it easy on us. It's a shame his feet quit on him so early in his career.
Yeah, you can't even play in front of him like most bigger guys and make them throw the lob pass, because he still has at least about a foot on you. He actually had a nice long career, was drafted in 1988 and played up through the 2000 Finals, at the expense of my Knicks who they beat in the East finals. Made the All-Star Game once, I think when Patrick was hurt.
Ok first off come in from the window ledge its ok. Secondly I agree with you to a point. I hated the Giants and all their fans when I was in NY. I enjoyed the bantering between fans and I even miss it today. But that being said their has been some changes for me. I moved to the South for one. After some time down here I found that most people throughout the country hate New York teams. (and New Yorkers in general for that matter). So after a while you find yourself cheering for teams you may not have liked when you were back in NY, But I found myself rooting for Giants cause I hated the people bad mouthing New York. So I am not a fan still I ccould never be. But if they are there come superbowl Sunday and they are playin the Pats. I will definetly want them to win Rather thean the Patsies
It is a lot easier to root for NY teams you don't generally like if you're not physically here in the area. I could root for the Giants a lot easier if I weren't around here.
I wanted to add even though my animosity towards the Giants has mellowed since my move to the South, It didnt take much to revert to my old ways in a sports bar down here. I came in to watch Jets game in my Jets gear and a Friggin Jint fan bartender started makin comments..Well mellow me hung in there for a short while until she hit a sore spot with the whole its our stadium not yours crap. It set me off in such a way that the owner of the bar told me to calm down and the bartentder eventually apologized. But my response to there"Its our stadium" line is. We have more numbers retired on the walls of your stadium until that changes, its our stadium. Now I havent been there in a while so I am not sure if thats true anymore. But it used to shut em up back then. So that bein said I feel your pain Sec314. I guess the best we could hope for if Jints and Pats both make it is the first draw in Superbowl history with evryone gettin injured...LoL
All my Giant fan friends get together and watch FOOTBALL... Jets and Giants... Now over the years I've hated some Giant teams - i hated Tiki and they went all those years with incredibly bad QB's they though could win... But, I've been high on this Giant team more than most Giant fans this year... And I've been a fan on Eli for a long time and never got the criticism he gets - Dude is in his 4th year!!!!!! I think some Jet fans need to wake up and realize developing a QB takes time. Gotta love the people who already can tell you Clemens isn't an NFL QB.
Add me to that list, Be the first to admit I am wrong . But I dont think Clemens has what it takes. I thought Eli was ok and needed development. I dont think he is a superstar, but he is good enough. Clemens missed open receivers when he had time regularly. Just my opinion though.
Giants=Giant Ants? I don't root for the Giants at all. I HATE the way the Gi-ants keep winning Super Bowls while the Jets have been one player or two away from the Super Bowl at the same time when those Gi-ants win! It's sheer torture! Turns me into a Gi-ant hater! How does a 7th round running back turn into a superstar for the Giants while the Jets have one 1st round bust after another? Well, all i go to say is that payback is a bitch. I got a good friend who's a Patriot fan, and look at their past. It ain't too pretty (before 2000), so... Better days are ahead.
