I would have bought his jersey immediately regardless of his role. He's one of my favorite players of all time. Doesn't make sense for him to come out of retirement and be on this team, though.
The fact that the Jets contacted him proves at least how much the Jets think a veteran mentor for the young WRs is important.
Why did they go after Hightower with a big offer? Makes zero sense especially when he was suppose to replace Harris. And why did they pay an injury prone old piece of shit qb 6 million with other incentives. And why did they fire a gm and keep the coach. And why did they hire a coach and then the gm. And why r they rebuilding with a coach on his last year. Because woody is the owner which is biggest reason I gave up my tics
The easy answer for why he was contacted: because this regime has no idea what it's doing. I don't believe they have a plan. I know the green colored glasses section of this fan base does, but personally, I don't and I don't believe in their ability to hit on a QB next year, either, unless Darnold builds on his 9 games @ USC, becomes a better QB, decides to come out and we have the No.1 overall pick. Then we can luck out and have him fall in our laps like Leonard Williams, the only solid selection so far (not counting this year's class based on OTA results) by this regime.
