I don't care who's available at #3. The only answer is to trade down.

Bingo.....nobody saw Goff-Wentz as 1-2 at this time 3 years ago and nobody thought Winston-Mariotta were 1-2 four years ago.

Not a fan. The Jets could be in position to draft a young stud pass rusher but they'd take a 30 year old guy instead? 10 to the 3 requires a much more than that, and preferably in the form of picks. Denver is interesting because they have a ton of late picks to sweeten the deal, but their 2nd, 3rd and next years first is a good starting point.

The concept is great as we need a lot to fill out this roster, but no way I'd take Miller in a deal to swap picks with Denver... go young and get guys on cap friendly deals... there are plenty of pass rushers in this years draft.

Chart Value wise the 3 and our 5th for the 10, 41, and next years first are close value. That would be a very good deal for us moving forward.

Easy to say to trade down, get 3-4 good FA, build Offense via draft picks and move on. But the problem is can Mac pull and make these good moves?

He can, but will he? That's the question. His recent drafts have been better, so if he follows that trend the Jets could be just fine. If he reverts back to 2015 Macc, they will be in trouble and trading down would be a detriment.

What are these horrible trades you're referring to?

a 2nd rd pick AND Jermaine Kearse for Sheldon Richardson?
a 7th rd pick for Henry Anderson?
    a 5th for Brandon Marshall
the move up to get the Jets their potential franchise QB
Getting a 3rd rd pick for Bridgewater .... who was NOT going to sign with them at the end of the season?

Given Elways track record w/ QBs, perhaps we can put the Broncos in the dirt while we get some great value. If I am Mac, I am calling the Jags too.

WHO WANTS A QB!? Drive dat price up!

Trades is one aspect of the job where Macc has excelled at. It's his drafting after round 1 that concerns me the most.

  15. So if we were to include Miller #3 & 5th rounder for

    #10 overall
    #41
    3rd this year or next
    Miller

    Seems fair to me

None of those trades you mention above were trade downs during a draft save the Darnold pre-draft trade down when he surrendered three second round picks for moving down a whole three places. The "quarter for two dimes" was a phrase jets beatwriter Cimini used describing how MacCacgan handles trading down in the draft, which I understood was the topic of this thread. It was used when Maccagnan traded down three times in the 2017 draft, when he ended up drafting 4 DBs and 3 receivers and ZERO offensive lineman and defensive lineman. Funny that you never listed the results of those players/picks he acquired during the his three trade downs in the 2017 draft. Bottom line--under 4 years of Maccagnan as GM, we have gone from 10-6, to 5-11 to 5-11 to 4-12. If you are happy with that (as you seem to be), keep defending him.

The only good thing going with our GM right now is that he probably has more on the job learning/experience after 4 years

As I posted before, now he also has a better brain trust in Gase/Williams to consult with

If Denver trades Miller before June first they will suffer 19 Mill in dead money and with only 5 mill in cap savings. I highly doubt he gets moved at all. if the do move him I think he would be wort more than an early 3rd round pick, he's one of the best pass rushers in the game.
