Completely Agree. There has never been a player who has been drafted in the 4th round or later who has ever played a meaningful NFL game as a starter.
Those QB anomalies are outnumbered 100 to 1 by the QBs who have never had a sniff and have been complete wastes of picks. Not good odds. _
Mariota was not the reason Oregon lost the game, the defense couldnt stop a parked car. If anything, having him was the only reason the Ducks weren't blown out. That being said, I hope people are dumb enough to think so because he'll fall to us that way
I'm more scared of Winston's off-the-field issues in NYC, so if both are available (cold chance in hell) I take Mariota, but yes.
I don't think so. This past week wasn't Mariota's fault. But, now that we have Gailey, I hope we can get Mariota. He'd be a perfect fit for his system.
I never blamed him but he did show flaws to his game. That game really didn't change anything for me.
That was Mariota's money game IMO - he showed some flaws, it wasn't his fault they lost the game, but that's not the topic of discussion. The ones that love Mariota, simply do not see the flaws or blame it on the system instead.
The same system that put him on the map? I would not draft this guy unless you are looking for him to improve your backup qb situation.
You may have to accept the fact that if he's there at #6, we likely take him. I'm not a Mariota fanboy at all, but I do think he'd be very good in Gailey's system. He has the intelligence, arm, and running ability for it. Only other situation I really wanted Mariota was when there was a chance that Chip Kelly would leave the Eagles.
"Pro style offense" has to be the most over used phrase in college football along with redzone, eye test, and body of work
