So you don't care, but took the time to tell everyone on a jets message board, that you don't care. So, you do care?

  2. Give him a break. We're all alittle delirious & delusional at this point...just been beaten down in every concievable way w. a horrible regime that seems clueless on how to weather the storm...and it doesn't even seem like they care!

I have a hard time with this also? You actually HATE Toilet??? I think that's way too extreme. Now, if you're saying he sucks as a HC? I get that. I've been saying that for eons. I call him Toilet and really haven't referred to him by his real name since 2015 some time. So I get the criticism thing.

But I don't understand hatred? I think he's probably a great guy to get to know on a personal level? I'd love to sit down and have a beer with the guy. Ask him about his playing days? The bottom line for me is that he's just incompetent. Not a bad guy, just in over his head. The only problem I have with him on a personal level is him throwing his assistants/staff under the bus so he can save his job. And I'm really not sure whose doing that is? Maybe Woody told him in some end of season meeting that he's going to be retained, but he's one more season to produce or get out? If you need to make changes to your CS? Do it now because there won't be ANY excuses in 2017?

Really the only player or HC that I have ever HATED is Geno Smith. This guy as far as I am concerned is a true scumbag in every sense of the word.......

  4. I don't hate the guy personally...no. He seems to be a stand up polite soft spoken dude..and he was a good football player on a great team. What I hate is his personality for the Job. I understand & agree that the NY media has to be kept at bay..and the disruptions have to be kept to a minimum. I'm not looking for a entertainment from press conferences. But he's never once talked about his vision for the team, what style he wants to play, or really any single thing that would indicate that we are finally building an identity..on really either side of the ball. Let his actions do the talking? I have even LESS idea what he wants to do with this team when I watch the games. What do we do well? Whats the formula for winning? What can we hang our hat on?He's certainly not winning us any games w. his sideline saavy...he makes Herm Edwards seem like a clock management expert. It's like there's no purpose to the overall game from the coaches or players at all. It's like this collective "going through the motions" operation.

I believe very strongly that stability is vital to a successful organization. Nothing would thrill me more than Bowles becoming the HC we all thought he was...but 2 years is a long time in today's NFL..and in 2 years...he's shown 0 evidence that he's the stability this team desperately needs.

Interesting you compare Bowles and Kotite. I had the same (Kotite-like) feeling with Bowles and Fitzpatrick going INTO games last season--I expected the jets to lose-- and from their performance I think the players did too. Absolutely unacceptable to bring Bowles back with the kind of effort we saw last year. Let's remember that TWO of the games the jets WON were against the Browns and 49ers and in each the jets BARELY prevailed--disgraceful effort with all the high priced talent on this team.

yea...I counted at least 3 games where the team quit on him last year. I had a feeling that last year that the team wasn't going to be all that great. What I didn't count on was that Coaching\Defense were going to be so bad.

    Yep

He knows nothing about how to coach a football team ..."build an identity?"..thats laughable with this guy

Did you ever have your car repaired and had to hang around the shop? You know the waiting room with the old broken down furniture and sofa? There was always some guy there just sitting around to answer the phone and shoot the breeze with while your carburator gets fixed...well thats who TB reminds me of ...not the brightest guy in the universe but sure can talk about the weather... ahaha

I don't really compare this to the Kotite era. I found those '95-'96 teams comically awful. Actually comical, as in: I laughed at those guys attempting to play football, and I laughed at myself for being a Jets fan. They couldn't reliably get off a snap.
This Jets team was just sad. They had tremendous talent in places and tremendous holes in places, and a ludicrous lack of depth at almost every position. I feel like 2014-2018 is just paying up for the years of Tanny kicking the can on the cap, always trying to trade up in the draft, and always trying to bring in the biggest free agents. I hope Bowles is the right guy, but I recognize that he probably isn't. Still--the roster problems on this team are a far bigger concern to me than the in-game decision making. I have more hope that Mac is the right guy to fix those problems, and looking at the last few years, I see some indication that the front office is trying to address the the problems Tanny created and trying to build a culture that is actually sustainable.

Granted, any real results won't be seen for at least a couple of years, and everything sure sucks right now. I'm sure it sucks even worse for quality players who have to be stuck on a team that is going through this mess and won't be competitive. But in the long view, the team appears to be finally trying to do the right thing and build through the draft, so that's reason for some hope, in the long run.

Now watch, they'll trade away all their draft picks and Leonard Williams for Philip Rivers or something and this post will be worthless.

Two Headed,,,those pathetic Kotite teams also were hurting for talent thats what makes Clueless Todd exceptional as we had some talent on this team but I dont know about you but I think the coaching on this team was inept. Did the do things at times yep but how many miscommunications did we see on defense ? I mean we had talent , SUPPOSEDLY on defense yet each week we would have multiple breakdowns on defense especially in the secondary which was supposed to be clueless Todds strength,,,,and this happened each and every week ! Forget about the offense and the HEAD COACH not having a clue and the down and distance mistakes and the coaching like he had zero testicles ,the non TE issues and the fact that there was no accountability and BTW the defensive coordinator still is employed simply amazing---> this is all very Kotitesque in fact this could be worse because there was some talent on this team !

Hey Turk maybe you would rather talk about how the G MEN cut CRUZ or how the Pats just won another Super Bowl ? Or maybe you are happy with how the Jets are run top to bottom ? Maybe you are not happy about how things are in Jet land ? So , yes when the Jets and the organization are doing well ( which aint often ) I will give them they're props but when the Organization blows top to bottom and there aint much to be excited about I go on the JET message board because my doctor told me it is good to vent and not keep things in BUT you are correct I guess I could go other places and vent or write a letter to someone or call a sports radio show but this is what I decided to do instead !

What you should know is that Mike Mac effectively built/strengthened the roster somewhat w/only 1 draft. The following is a good writeup of that:
    http://www.ganggreennation.com/2017/2/12/14593168/rookie-review-2017

I see 3 2017 full-time starters here (Lee, Jenkins and Shell), 1 current starter with competition coming in 2017 (L. Edwards, - but he could still improve), 1 possible starter in 2017 (Burris) and our 3rd or 4th WR (undrafted Robby Anderson). Awaiting to see what Hackenberg can become.
Granted, - he has had 2 drafts, but he had to use Terry Bradway & his $hitty staff for draft 1 (2015).

Please provide some reasonable quantity/quality comparison of the 2016 draft class to any prior draft class other than 2006 (Ferguson, Mangold year).

Gosh, after reading the last few threads I'm getting depressed myself. I truly felt Bowles could be a solid Defensive coach for us with room to grow as a HC. Last year however, he disappointed me greatly. He had sufficient talent to compete and he screwed it up, but above all he lost control of his team. He also woefully overestimated the need for Fitz as a QB and let some vets get away with murder. If he doesn't kick ass and take names this year and arms himself with an assistant that helps him with game management he will be a goner, along with his well below average DC.
We desperately need a HC that first and foremost knows how to:
    - keep the team together,
    - gets the most out of the talent he has,
-puts them in a position to win,
    - brings a capable staff,
-and gets rid of the malcontents that drag the team down.
It is also unacceptable to have the HC report to Woody, that in my opinion was the Achilles heal of the transaction from day one. Either he reports to our present GM, or we get rid of both and select a GM first, who in turn will select the HC.
Enough of this management by committee. Let the GM be a real GM and straighten THIS ORGANIZATION ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Winning organizations are made by the capabilities of a top leadership team. If you have that, players will excel and talent will come willingly.
No one wants to play for a looser.

I get you. I differentiate the two because I was personally able to enjoy the Kotite years in some way, like a self-deprecating comic enjoying the audience's laugh at his own insecurities. I don't get any enjoyment whatsoever from watching the current team.

I completely agree with the complaints about Bowles not providing any direction for the team or cultural identity, at least that any that we fans can see. I do give him a pass on some of the play calling and situational football gaffes--and I know that I shouldn't.

It's not directly applicable to football, but I've been in some work situations with teams that thought they were "Elite" because of their training and position. Each of those teams found out quickly and painfully that you are not elite until the whole team gets with the program and starts working together--likewise, I get the impression that this football team isn't behaving as a team. I think that was part of Rex Ryan's culture here. As a leader, sometimes you know your team isn't ready for those pressure situations-- until you can execute on 1st-and-10, you have no business attempting a 2-pt conversion or trying to stop a 4th-and-2.

I could be totally projecting and Bowles just completely sucks, in fact, that's probably true. But for now, anyway, this idea keeps me from wallowing in my own pity like a lot of posters on here. If he does really suck, there will be plenty of time for me to come around and wallow some, too.

Thinking Lee, Jenkins, and Shell will be full-time starters = emerald-colored glasses.

You mean under Idzik, Rex had nothing to do with why that team turned into pure shit.

I felt the same way after Kotite's first season - no way it could get worse, could it?

I kind of agree. It's just the whole vicious cycle with the Jets. You get pumped for the draft, as soon as that's over you build up hope that their draft will be full of HOF'ers and you can't wait for the season to start. Then before the leaves are off the trees your hopes are crushed and you want the season to be over so you can start the whole cycle again!!

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but I'm looking forward to the draft, who doesn't?

The only way I will sour on this off season is if the jets bring back Revis, no way should he come back and rip off the team.

The guy is playing flag football on Sundays and asking the jets FO and fans to be ok with it.
