Is it really gambling if neither participant can win any money?

So wait... Isn't the point of a bet, that the better is able to win something? It's a lose, lose situation because if you lose the bet; you're losing money. But, if you win the bet, then you get nothing...

I would propose something better, that we start before the start of the season. Like everybody who signs up donates $5 for every time Sanchez throws an interception, or Jones fumbles the ball. Something that could be based off a single statistic. This way, there is no bet involved, more of a donation. Then our favorite Jets site doesn't get shutdown for illegal online gambling, lol.

Yes because an event is being betted upon an outcome which will eventually lead to financial gain

There is no financial gain to either party wagering so no laws would be broken.

If you just limit to all $5 or $10 bets with a month long ban to anyone that does not pay up it will eliminate alot of those that would maybe welch on the bet.

To those that wouldn't be interested because there would be no personal financial gain then they need not participate. I think there would be some that would to help support the site.

I would think Petro would have to set up paypal though so it would be easier for the losers to pay up.

I'm not crash hot on US law, but I believe that even if a 3rd party was the beneficiary of such a wager, then in some states gambling laws would be broken.
Whats wrong with just making a donation if you feel so inclined?

Because for those of us without the bug, it's a fun way to put your money where your mouth is and make money for the site.

If someone doesn't want to do it they move on to the next thread. Some may enjoy having bragging rights over someone else on a bet while at the same time helping the site.

I have donated to the site over the years so it is not like I need something to prod me to do that but it may get a few extra bucks for Petro to keep up and running. I am sure he makes something from people clicking on the ads but I would think it can't be enough to cover everything.

^^It's about helping out the site. Do you not enjoy the presence of TGG? That would be the gain...more TGG and a happier Pedro.

This thread reminded me...do we need to wait until Plaxico ACTUALLY heads into prison, or should Revis Flytrap be paying some money to the site already?
