To me, the Steelers game will be the toughest due to it being on the road. San Francisco is good, but coming from the West Coast for a 1:00 game will be tough. Houston is good too, but beatable at home. Have to win your home games if you want to be a great team so I agree, 4-1 is very possible.
I saw the jets as a playoff team before the season started and even I expect 4-2 at best. And your right I actually expect the steelers to be one of the easier wins over this stretch as banged up as they are. But if they play like they did Sunday they should be able to average about between 21 to 24 points a game. And we wont be facing CJ Spiller every week, nor will we be playing in prevent or giving the opposing team so many posessions. We had like 3 scoring drives under 4 minutes.a couple under 3. I know that's all based on a hypothetial consistency on offense but that's the potential. Teams will break the occasional big play on us, we sell out to stop the run and force errant passes, only takes a good block and read to beat a defense like that sometimes. And while I expect the jets defense to carry this team regardless of offensive improvement, its hard to shutdown a team completely when you hang 48 on em. Either way considering odds makers had us as underdogs at home I enjoyed that game thoroughly. Alot of people are worried about the run defense, I think were a real contender with offensive consistency. But ill wait until week 8 before I say we have that. Hell, last year the bills were on the cover of SI before they collapsed. Its a long season. I try to temper my expectations but I just hav a feeling everythings gonna ome together this year as long as the OL can show up every week and we don't suffer any major injuries. Hill will go down as a steal, I know its only been one game but the guy looks uncoverable. Im willing to put up with the dropsies considering the system he came from, also the fact h can make circus catches and runs tough with the ball in his hands. You can't teach sped or the ability to box out and use your frame to mak catches like that. The easy drops he's made are just a lack of experience and repetition. Having a WR with his size/speed ratio opens up every other target. Especially since teams will still have to focus on holmes. Which makes Kerlys job all that easier too. As of today I expect 9 to 11 wins.barring injury. Especially if sanchez puts it together this yr like he's capable of. I know that's a wide margin considering that's the difference between wild card or missing out these days. But we've got the talent I just can't sell myself on anything after week one other than I know this defense will be good, hill will be a beast, and sanchez looks like he's on the way to fulfilling his draft stauts. And if he can look at least solid this weekend then ill be completely sold because PIT doesn't let people have good days you have to take their lunch money yourself
I can see 3-2. I can't see 4-1. I don't think this team is ready to take on the likes of San Francisco or Houston. Pittsburgh is the up in the air game. Miami's a win if we started McElroy.
4-1 might be a bit of a stretch, but it's not impossible and I hope that what happens. To be honest I would be happy with 3-2 in the first five. Mostly because we have some tough teams in that first five games so if we can get out to a good start it only bodes well for the rest of the season. We beat the Bills and should beat the Dolphins, that means we would just need one win between the Steelers, 49ers and Texans. That doesn't seem far fetched at all. Especially seeing as 2/3 are home games. Best bet of those three is the Steelers IMO. Of course if we beat the Steelers and Dolphins then we'll be 3-0 and the OPs original prediction of 4-1 after five will seem even less of a stretch.
Well as of Thursday Revis said he's still "in a fog" and hadnt passed the needed tests which doesnt bode well for Sunday. Anyone who has had a concussion...mild or not...knows it takes more than a week to be 100%. Id rather see him benched if hes still fucked up. I dont see us winning without him. Cro on Wallace ok...but Wilson will get shit on by Brown IMO. They will def. pick on Wilson all day. It will also change up our ability to blitz. Even if Revis played it would ber tight but without him I dont see us winning.
houston is good but a little overrated right now their offesne does not match up well with us, shaub has played one solid quarter in eight against rex's jets
^We have to stop Arian Foster though. That will be the hardest part. If Revis, Polamalu and Harrison are out, it kind of becomes a wash. We can win without Revis, by applying good pressure to the QB and scoring on offense. It'll be interesting seeing Kyle Wilson as the #2. I think he'll be alright. It's not like Revis being out makes our team useless. Don't forget we have Landry on the prowl now. Hopefully Revis will be cleared before the plane trip tomorrow.
some teams find themselves in week 4, 7, 10, etc. and some take off from the get go. it's hard not to be excited but go one week at a time, the NFL is unforgiving, no expectations- no misery if said expectations are not met.
This. Last week could be a sign of things to come, or it could be a fluke. And no Revis. If we can beat Pigsburg I have a great feeling for this season. But 4-1 is going to be tough.
Jerky tit. At least the guy said he's not a guru, unlike some know it alls around here who got all their football knowledge from Madden and PTI. Wouldn't hurt to learn. It'll make watching football more enjoyable and give you a lot more to talk about.
I think you guys will be 2-3 after week 5 but end up 10-6 or 11-5. The beginning of your schedule is by far the worst part.
I think 3-2 is possible, but it depends on which way the ball bounces. San Francisco looks really good this year. I haven't seen the Texans play. The Steelers look beatable. Miami should be a win.
You don't think we could beat at least ONE of the 49ers, Texans, or Steelers? The 9ers and Texans games are at home too. I think 4-1 is very possible, but 3-2 seems more likely.
The Texans game will be HUGE, and you gotta give the Jets the edge at home in that one, imo. Winning @ Pitt in their home opener sans Revis is a tall order, and the 49ers game could just flat-out get ugly fast.
