What a throw! All the experts said his arm was strong and that was his main argument, along with his accuracy.
I understand what you were saying as far as deep acuracy and you are probably correct, but my point and the point of this thread was focused on JUST his arm strength and by watching that clip we all know he has great arm strength.
watch how this guy throws across his body while on the run. That's the best way to determine arm strength and this guy shows he's got plenty. He's very impressive.
Trust me, Terrence Whitehead was the #24 on the highlight reel. He was Oregon's feature back for the past couple years. Jeremiah Johnson just took Whitehead's number over for next season, I don't believe he's even played a college football game yet. Also, having played his college ball up in Oregon (and about 8 games overall each year up in Oregon or Washington), I wouldn't worry about how he handles the NY weather. Based on my understanding, the weather up there is just as crazy as ours.
I have total confidence in the FO. This team did total research and analysis on every player and probably twice on the players we liked. These players are prepared to suceed.
I have another bone to pick with Clemens bashers while we're at it. I don't know where you all heard he was a bad athlete, but that's really something he's quite good at. I'd honestly list that as a strength for him. He's certainly not an athletic QB in the mold of Mike Vick, but, really going with this whole smart theme, he knows when to run, and when he does, he's athletic enough to make good yardage. Also, he's very good at keeping his head downfield while on the run, resetting himself, and making a good throw while outside the pocket. Not a negative whatsoever.
Guys I dont know what you are looking at but it wasnt just one throw. I saw like five throws that were deep and had zip on it. Weak arm my ass. This kid could very well be the franchise.
With all due respect, this"duckwing" stuff is ridiculous. It completely ignores what Pennington did for this franchise for three years - win. And it ignores that his only shortcoming is that he got hurt trying to win games for this teams and came back last year in an effort to QB a team many thought was a SB contender. Calling him names is ignorant and disrespectful of his accomplishments and effort. It would be analogous to you suffering a head injury, taking some time off from this board, then coming back too soon as a Moderator and having your posts contain spelling and syntax errors. Then everyone ignores your years of intelligent posting and starts calling you "pea brain" because of the mistakes you make in your posts.
Its great that you have been a Pennington fan since forever. Sorry, but I haven't and no, I don't think calling him Duckwing is ignorant or disrespectful. You have your opinion and I have mine. I'm looking forward to passes not hanging in the air. I'm looking forward to a QB playing an entire season. I'm looking forward to no more dinking and dunking. I'm looking past Duckwing Pennington towards the future. You can do what you want...
Two Things... 1 - Did we draft #31? I know it was one game, but holy christ that was ridiculous. 2 - Clemens looks like he is an athlete, kind of mobile like Kitna but seems to be well focused. We shall see.
4.75 a slow Freeman http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft...t/draft/tracker/player?id=9865&draftyear=2006
Yeah, but he sure looks great though. I wonder if Freeman was much faster back in the day?... Any info out there? BTW. regarding your sig.. Did Mariah really have a blonde moment and say that? OMG...
Funny you should ask....was he really only a 4.60 Re the sig...one of her brighter moments actually, some of the other stuff, now thats really dumb:lol: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_game/pat_kirwan/news/2002/03/03/combine_participation/
I didn't bother with the clip. I saw the clip montage ESPN put on earlier today. The kid HAS an arm. Also, the word on him is that he is smart, charismatic, and will play through pain. That's just like Penny, and is the reason so many of us have stuck by Penny for so long. Given that his arm is better (significantly) than Chad's, he is sure to be the face of the franchise by the start of camp '07.
